'08 grad here.
Difference in student support is night and day.
Students come to games and stay and make noise.
My season tix group, all recent alums, are always impressed with them.
Especially when the entire student section gets into that drum cadence thing the band does in the 4th Q.

You could have been in my class when our Homecoming games were "celebrated" on the soccer field.

My SMU Soph was here for Fall break. Said after the TCU game there was differently more on campus excitement. Folks were opening windows and giving Pony Ears to those passing by. Enthusiasm for football and a big win.

I don’t know how that will translate to this week’s game

Said for once it felt like a real college campus. And she has experience at LSU, Alabama and Beloved Razorbacks games.

From my perspective, the students have been better and better the last two years.

Blvd will be crazy packed. Game will have 100 more students.

The students are showing up now, but I hope everyone realizes how fickle that interest can be and how frustrating it can be to be cheering in the student section, only to see no reciprocated interest on the alumni side. It can feel like an under-appreciated up-hill battle.

One of the reasons why RBA is stationed across the stadium from the student side is that we want to show the students that the energy they generate doesn't die just beyond their section but can be mirrored by and spread throughout the stadium. I wish I could communicate how exciting the NW ST RED! BLUE! cross-stadium chant was for them. A total "holy [Gary Patterson], we can do that!?!" moment for those kids.

10-15 young alumni including myself in section 104 are doing our part. We scream the entire game and stand up 95% of the time. My brother even got into it with someone who told him to sit down during a game last year.

Was told by AD's office they are aware of problems in 104 and are looking for ways to appease the people that have been coming to games for 20-30 years and the new people that want to stand up and cheer

I'm keepin it rowdy in the top of 205. My brother is a Vandy grad and he comes to most games and cheers non-stop with me. The other people around us ar slowly starting to join in too!
