I'm hearing a John Denver song as well.

I know JJ's teams seem a bit unprepared or flat in the first game. But so too did Gregg's, Rossley's, Caven's and Bennett’s teams.

Our QB has a year to learn the system. And he has introduced the run option. We will be solid at RB and we might have a better O-line than once believed. Once again, the receivers have to step up and make plays.

The D will have a different emphasis this year. Moe on the LBs and less on the D line. And we have a little depth so hopefully we can be strong in the 4th quarter as well.

I also think the last time we played TTU we were not flat and put in a heck of a game. No reason that can’t happen again.

Of all the coaches post DP, Gregg had the most success during first games of the season with a .500 record

Gregg - 1-1 with a win over Vandy
Rossley - 2-4 beat Arkansas in the game Flannigan was lost for the season in 95, Tulsa in 96, his last year
Cavan 1-5 - who will forget Kansas to open Ford
Bennett 0-6 - guess he really did forget a lot of football...........
Jones - 1-4 - SFA in 09

We are due to win another opener for sure.............

Yeah, I can think of a thousand reasons we should lose the game to Texas Tech, but one reason that we will win is because I want us to win (and so will this team) so badly.

Sad, only 5 opening day wins since the DP. We have opened the last 3 seasons on the road (TTU, A$M, and BU). On the road against strong competition. We this year we are at home and we are stronger than in 2009. WE have two home games this year and a week off to get ready for A$M. This is a better opening for us than the last 3 seasons.

If I recall correctly, the Vandy opening season win and the Arkansas opening season win were preludes to 1-11 seasons.

If we don't win, I sure hope we show up and have a great game. The reaction from my boys, when I told them we were going to this game, was "are you crazy? TT is going to blow SMU out" and from my son "Did you forget who is coaching tt now?". Should we cross our pony ears?!?

Hahaha. I remember the Vandy game because I was like, ten, and had just started following football and my Dad went to Vandy - I was rooting for them. When SMU won I asked my dad if SMU as any good. He was PI$$ED....

Here is a thought - we have lost most of our openers, because the opener is non-conference, and our non-conference opponents are better than our conference opponents. Shocker - I would bet we were picked to lose in pretty much every opener.

I have never been a sunshiner, but I think we do have a legitimate shot against Tech this year. But every time I get my hopes up that we will compete against a big 12 team I always walk away disappointed.

The fact that there is an SMU game is the only firing up I need. The season can't get here soon enough.

We are at home and Tech is breaking in a totally new coaching staff and several new starters on both sides of the ball. If we get our doors blown off in this game I will be very disappointed. We should be able to hang with Texas Tech.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Team's gotta come out fired up and get off to a quick start/score. Every big win we have had during the JJ era has started with the O getting on the board quickly. If they start off good the D will do its part.
