Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all timeRight.
You take flippin' Atlanta in the early nineties to the playoffs, and do it with Jeff George, and the get handed Mr. Dumpster-fire himself, Ryan Leaf, and your the one who stinks. Just 'cause the print it doesn't make it true. Last edited by leopold on Sat Jun 15, 2013 3:16 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all timeThat list is so idiotic I thought BleacherReport came up with it.
"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
... "Hit it."
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all timeThis list is incredibly irrelevant to anything regarding smu football.
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all timeWho cares. There's no relationship between college and nfl success. Completely different games.

Do penciled in losses count for anything? ![]() ![]() #HammerDown
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all timeRead this article in the Bleacher Report a year ago. Recycled for the off season.
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all time
Hilarious -- even after 100,000 repetitions. Seriously, it's like dismissing the college careers of Danny Wuerffel and Mike Rozier (look it up) and Courtney Brown (look it up) and Vince Young and any of a number of other players who were stars in college and didn't reach the same levels of success in the pros. It's a different game. Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all time"Over at SMU, the Mustangs got everything they expected out of junior college transfer Traylon Shead and Prescott Line. They are both tasked with replacing Zach Line in the backfield. SMU also made some big national headlines when it hired Hal Mumme, giving the Mustangs two men credited with many of the offensive innovations we have seen over the past two decades both in college and pro football."

Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all timeSerious question: Did June do anything innovative at any coaching stop where Mouse Davis was not involved?
"I think Couchem is right."

Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all timeDefinitely! He turned SMU football around.
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all timeI think the next few years with the move to the new conference will cement his legacy whether it be god, bad or mixed.. Handing over the play calling to Mumme had to be hard but something had to be done...although handing it off to another middle-aged guy trying to work his way back up is yet to be seen. If they win and go to a bowl it would be amazing considering how poorly they have recruited Texas and with no more gimmes on the schedule
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all time
Another way of looking at it. I'm with you: if SMU makes a bowl this year after losing a senior class like that, it will be an enormous accomplishment.
Got everything we expected? Like the rest of you, I hope Shead and PLine and Nlemchi are the second coming of Waggoner, Dickerson and James, but they have yet to play a snap on offense, right? They look good in practice, but let's see them do it in games. I have every faith that they will, but who wrote this piece, saying we "got everything we expected"?
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all timeLet's run out and hire Tom Coughlan. He can coach in the NFL, but by most accounts is universally disliked by his players. Want to put him out recruiting?
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: #15 worst NFL Coach of all time
June will still call the plays. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security
