SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

With all of these bowls it is amazing that some of them are even remotely profitable. I'm assuming ESPN and the networks are the real winners here in that they get cheap programming during the holidays.

Yeah some schools lose money, but its an opportunity to have your program on national television.
