Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livI've only been part of the SMU family since the mid-90s, so there hasn't been a whole lot of great football games to choose from. In terms of games that I actually attended, I'd go with the opening of Ford Stadium in 2000 against KU. That was a great day.
Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen liv1980 in Austin
Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livSo many great games.
Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livthere are several but I think my favorite was the game against Houston when our seniors beat up on the Cougs 4 years after they ran up the score on us. Great moment for those guys.
Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen liv
I was at that one too, Stallion. Nothing like Jones Stadium going crazy after the Tech touchdown, followed by silence as the kickoff developed. SMU-BU in the '66 season, and the '80 SMU-UT game are my favorite in person stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livI'd have to say the Notre Dame game in the '60s when we beat Staubach and the Holiday Bowl v. BYU. That one ended badly but Craig James had a career day and it was exciting throughout the game ...until the last play!
Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livI've only been a SMU fan since I was a freshman in the fall of 2006.
Top 2: 1) 2009 vs. UTEP - Bowlingggg. Need I say more? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E19f9GUhNYM 2) 2012 BBVA Compass Bowl - First SMU game with my dad. Seeing all of the SMU fans show up and cheer for that really made it extremely memorable. The butt kicking was a nice touch as well. Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen liv1978 SMU vs. Baylor. Down 21 - 0 at the half. We recover a Baylor fumble in our end zone on
Baylor's first second half drive, and the comeback was on ![]() Football the next summer sitting about 10 rows above the SMU bench ![]() Levias' 80+ yard punt return during the 21 - 14 win over A$M in the 66 SWC championship year made that game one the best ones I've seen. Hmmmm, just remembered the 1982 17-17 game with Arkansas. I think that will be my #!. May the forth be with us.
Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livQuick to mind are '84 home wins against a$m and arky, plus '85 home win over ut.

Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livdrilling ut in 1985 at texas stadium 44-14.
second favorite beating nm at owby in the last second.
Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen liv
That NM game was classic. Wally Lynn on the play by play went absolutely crazy on that play. Peruna is my mascot!
Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livAll victories in a 1-10-1 seasons are "Classics". Tragic it would come to that on this thread

Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livAny victory over Baylor between 1975-1986 was a "Classic"- There was one stinker SMU/Baylor game for that period. The 6-9 Wind Bowl where neither team could pass because of gale force winds

Re: What's the best SMU Football game you have ever seen livI loved the 1983 Cotton Bowl and the 1989 win over UConn. I also loved the weird 1975 game against Houston in the Astrodome.
But my mind keeps going back to a cold November day in the Cotton Bowl in 1974 when we upended Texas A&M 18-14. The Aggies were 4-0 in the conference and 7-1 for the season. Louie Kelcher made 24 tackles that day, recovered a Bubba Bean fumble to set up another TD and was named Defensive Player of the Week by AP and SI. Wayne Morris threw his body around, Oscar Roan plucked Dave Bostick's fumble out of the air and ran it in for a touchdown, Steve Morton KO'ed David Walker for a safety. It was our day and nobody was gonna take it away from us.
