Re: Worse Weather GameWe played Arkansas several years ago in Little Rock (Dupard days I believe) under tornado warnings and very heavy rain. Officials had to hold the ball in place during huddles because it kept floating away. Poor ABC cameraman on a crane was being blown all around.
Game would have been delayed today but things were different then. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Worse Weather Game03 cotton bowl- tx vs lsu- cold
Last yr vs Tcu - rain
Re: Worse Weather GameOn a different note, how about the opening game at Ford. It was a clear sunny day but 107 degrees.
![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: Worse Weather Game
Must've been another cotton Bowl game. The nicest weather game I recall was OT loss vs byu
Re: Worse Weather GameWhile not an SMU game, it was played at SMU's stadium: UH vs Air Force in 2008 was a weird weather game. For those who don't know, Hurricane Ike forced the game to be moved from Houston to Dallas just a few days before the game. And they changed the time of the game less than 24 hours before kickoff to try to avoid the effects of the hurricane moving towards the Metroplex.
Maybe not the worst weather although there were some very heavy winds and rain, getting worse as the game went on. It was bad enough that Air Force threw a total of 7 passes completing none of them. What made it so bad was knowing that the people back in Houston were dealing directly with the impact of a hurricane hitting the city. It was also crazy what it did to attendance. The official attendance was 2,546, but I'm not sure that there were that many people there. It was eerie to see an official game played in front of less people than some UH open practices/scrimmages.
Re: Worse Weather GameI actually walked in and watched that game. It was so damn eerie. Hurricane was a total farce. Overcast and mild drizzle.
Re: Worse Weather GameIs 777 gonna start a string of "worse this " "worse that" threads now that the "best ever" list have been maxed out??
Ill participate though... TCU last year...
Re: Worse Weather Game
I am a fair weather fan. I have never been to a game in bad weather!!! ![]() Actually, now that I think about it, I realize that my "joke" is true. - Growing up, good weather was essential to convincing my father to take me to games. - As a student, I don't remember any bad weather games. Maybe it will snow when the Ponies come to Connecticut? Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Worse Weather GameNo question. The blizzard, snow and freezing sleet of the '76 or was it '78 SMU v. Texas Tech game in Lubbock. This tops the misery of last year's TCU game of a gulley washer... The '83 Cotton Bowl was not that bad! We had great seats around the 45 yardline in the upper deck and while it was cold this was nothing compared to the Lubbock game.
About 25 feet from the Hillcrest track... With the boots so tall and the writing on the wall...
Re: Worse Weather GameThe opener last year at Baylor wasn't too great, IMO.
105ish and sitting in the direct sun for 'bout 3 hours (with nothing to cheer about)..
Re: Worse Weather GameNot horrible weather, but it was freezing at the rice game, last game of the season, 2 years ago
Re: Worse Weather GameNumber 8 on this ESPN list. The 1979 Cotton Bowl with a Joe Montana led Notre Dame team against Houston. I actually saw a guy catch on fire because of his pocket heater. Amazingly cold day

Re: Worse Weather Gameat navy in the monsoon from what i have been told.
cotton bowl vs pitt-crazy cold. ford home opener-crazy hot.
Re: Worse Weather GameThe game against Pitt was cold, bone chilling cold. But nothing like the 79 game, where the temp was in the teens with heavy wind. Wind chill was -7. Oof.
That Ford opener was crazy extreme too
