Couldn't agree more, IPP. That's a sharp looking jersey.
I've always said have a blue and red jersey, wear the blue jersey when the opponent's primary color is red (Houston, Tech, etc) and wear the red jersey when the opponent's primary color is blue (Tulsa, Memphis, Navy, etc). Also we need a retro throwback jersey to wear one game each season, too.
Again, if you gave me 15 minutes with a Nike uniform generator I could have come up with something better than the trash we wore last season. 100 high schools in the nation could have worn the exact same uniform. We may have had a rough quarter century or so of success on the field, but we've got a lot of tradition associated with the SMU name and right now we're [deleted] it away with [deleted] uniforms.

While I wish we could get a blue jersey as well, what makes me crazy even more is the stripe on the hemlet. They have to get the white back in there so it's spread out more. I know it's stupid but it drives me bananas!

I agree - and we need to get the matching stripes back on the pants too!

June thinks they're bad luck because we went 1-11 his first season in them

It's just another way to erase the blue on our uniforms.

I prefer these blues.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

To be fair, the helmet stripes weren't always separated. I don't think I've heard anyone complain about these pony express helmet stripes.
