Manziel is guilty, all this is nonsense. He wouldn't sign 300 items for sale for the profit of another. That's laughable. But they probably can't prove he took money so I fully expect it to come to nothing.

John Sharp is a democrat, he is used to covering for graft.

Exactly. The headline should have read: "Chancellor Sharp Announces the Aggie Honor Code is Officially Dead". Texans have known that for decades but the world had to learn the truth...ironically speaking. 8)

How does ESPN look bad? They had multiple brokers come forward, on the condition of anonymity, say, "Yeah, we paid him."

The problem is that the NCAA has no investigative teeth. If everyone sticks to the story or outsiders refuse to meet with them, there is nothing the NCAA can do. If the NCAA could penalize the school because people don't cooperate, then a lot of these issues would go away. As the rules stand, it is in nobody's best interest to speak with the NCAA.

so espn says something that they say someone said to them and somehow it is true. that is not evidence.
espn looks bad. they can't back up their story and they know it. it is pure fabrication. johynny wouldn't be playing saturday if there were a shread of truth to this. tamu wouldn't risk it. too much is on the line.

He must be innocent because, according to the sacred Aggie Code of Honor, an Aggie doesn't lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those who do.

"The Aggie Code of Honor affirms values that apply to students, faculty and staff alike. This simple statement exemplifies two of our core values—excellence and integrity—and underscores our commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with laws and official policies. These core values forge a strong base to embrace our other core values of leadership, loyalty, respect and selfless service."

common sense tells you it is a correct story. ESPN is not in the business of proving stuff - they reported that he signed 1,000's of items and "brokers" say he was paid for it. Why would he do that otherwise? If the NCAA cant pin him with it then that means they look bad, and money badger looks bad, but ESPN looks fine in my eyes.

I am sure that the suits at ESPN ran this story past their legal department before they went to air. Especially because their sources only spoke on the condition of anonymity. If I was one of these brokers I would not want my name put out in the public domain. This would give my competition an advantage on me when I want the next college athlete to sign stuff (Oh... You don't want to sign that guy's stuff. He will rat you out to the NCAA.)

I personally think, without knowing all of the facts, that they said something to ESPN to punish the money badger a little. He signed so much stuff, the value on the open market dropped. By doing multiple signings for multiple brokers he also cost these guys some exclusivity that would allow them to set the market price. This cost these guys some money. Squealing to ESPN with no consequences doesn't cost them a thing. It might also get the money badger to stop selling his autograph... making their collection more valuable.

you give espn way too much credit.
they got the story they wanted and it didn't cost them a penny.
they can say they had sources and yet nobody knows who those sources are. brilliant.
this story has died if you haven't noticed.

espn has 300 million reasons to hate tamu-lhn ring a bell?
tamu will nonetheless have a good year and j football will again have a great year.
go to college station so you can see in person what a great football player looks like.
