Two AAC teams USF and UConn lost as you know. Can someone that is a recruiting guru tell me how these teams stack up to most FBS recruiting classes? I did notice a few of the top 10 FCS guys got decent offers.

DeNarius McGhee is on record saying the reason he chose MSU over FBS offers is because "I want to compete for championships. I want to win a National Championship."

Unless you are a BCS school, it's nearly impossible for any other FBS school to compete for a National Championship. The gap is closing if not closed already between top tier FCS and lower tier FBS as a result of this truth.

Cue the "you're drunk, go home Bobcat" comments.

You first. You could start a blog and give all the gory details. The only thing that would make that more awesome would be to spend some quality time with Obama and Pelosi.

a lot of FCS programs bolster their roster with FBS transfers (our own Kyle Padron and Bo Levi Mitchell helped EWU improve their program and they just took out the #25 ranked FBS team). I don't know Montana State's roster or approach, but App State and Jerry Moore consistently landed guys who were highly recruited our of H.S., went off to SEC or ACC schools only to find themselves on the scout team.

FCS has the advantage of recruiting transfers who don't have/don't want a RS year and want to be eligible right away.

I think your last sentence is spot on in regards to some FCS recruits. Rob Ash has made no secret that he will play a recruit if he earns it, and that a red shirted season is not automatic. Granted, McGhee did red shirt, but the very next year beat out the returning starter, who was a senior with about 15 starts (don't hold me to that number, but you get the idea.)

Also, Coach Ash is an effective recruiter in that he presents himself as a coach that a parent would want their kid to play for, no phoniness in him. He's all class.
