Supply and demand maybe? I am sure the SMU bookstore and that one across Hillcrest sell all the SMU gear there is a demand for...
That said, I purchased my two window flags (for road trip to Baylor last year) at CVS, but it was the one right next to campus.

There is a local shop in Arlington that Ive been in a few times and bought some SMU stuff and the owner tells me that Im the only person that ever buys SMU stuff. Hell the Rallys in Arlington has UNT and UTA apparel but no SMU.

Merchandise isn't in the stores for marketing purposes. It's there because that store is a business and that business is assuming someone wants to buy things so that business can make money. If no one is going to buy it, why would they stock it?

I get harrassed at work with guy laughing at the 2 ft section of space we have at Rally House
Our section at Rally House really is embarrassing. I asked them about the selection and they mentioned the bogus "SMU has tough licensing" excuse...which is basically a nice way of saying "sorry, we don't think SMU brings us any business, so we don't bother to stock anything other than a few cheap things that we feel pretty confident we can sell." It's the truth and it hurts. SMU has no appeal outside of the alumni community, many of which live out of State, most who are not interested in the latest NIKE has to offer. If it isn't within 2 miles of the campus, slim-odds that store will have it.

This was at the Walmart at Park and the Tollway in Plano last weekend. Of course not a single SMU clothing item, but like someone said, maybe it is because TCU won the Rose Bowl, is in a big time conference now, and is frequently in the Top 20. But Smu is going to ZOOM past TCU in basketball and maybe a top basketball program will deliver us to retailers.

flew into Love Field last season and the sports store had NO SMU stuff. Nada. had TCU stuff, of course Texas and A&M. Love filed is right down the street for crying out loud. Can't SMU hire a no income intern to canvas the local area and push SMU stuff? I know of 20-somtethings that want to get into sports and would die to have SMU athletic department on their resume.

Wouldn't hold my breath on our FB program, just follow our attendance for the remainder of this season and tell me again why retailers should give us equal billing with UT, A&M or even the frogs or Baylor.
smusic 00 wrote:Yeah, I don't really get the complaint honestly. The nice stuff is at the bookstore, and they put their stuff online . Plenty of cheap tees at above mentioned spots.
Also, RGT can't force a business to stock anything. When we win the Rose Bowl they will be selling knockoffs on the exit ramps of 75.
I totally agree with everything you guys have said. I was at Sports Authority the other day to buy football gloves and I passed by the Cowboys/Rangers/Mavericks/Stars section and they also had a bunch of racks out with TCU A&M UT and Baylor stuff and a tiny rack of SMU stuff I went all out and bought a bunch of the shirts because I rarely see half of the small rack I saw at Sports Authority. But hype, you are talking aiming for TCU level: Let's stop being 7-5 every year!!!! Like smusic said, if we want to talk TCU level, win a Rose Bowl and see what happens to your program! One more thing: like socal_pony said, let's hope the Basketball team is what everybody says they are. Plus with Mudiay coming in next year, all the basketball team can do with our merchandise problem is help

also at the sports authority was a big cap rack. There were A&M adidas UT nike, Baylor Nike, TCU Nike. But there were not 4, not 3, not 2, but 1 SMU cap on this huge rack! And on top of that, it wasn't the nice Nike hat that A&M UT and TCU had, it was a no name brand hat with a red mustang on the front. And It was the only hat: it didn't have any others of that hat, just one single hat. And it's not like there was one left because they sold.
