My comment was only partly tongue-in-cheek. We don't have our names on any campus landmarks but we started writing checks to SMU 38 years ago and have supported athletics every year including the death penalty years. We pre-payed thousands for seats during the first four years after we resumed from the death penalty because we believed in the future of the program and the money was desperately needed. The last 25 years or so have not been easy and many times I thought that we were tossing our donations away but I continue to support the program.

I am not a Jones basher, in fact I think that he has been the right guy for the job. Problem is that my spouse, who loves SMU and is dedicated to numerous other charitable causes, including departments within SMU, honestly believes that we should budget this money differently. I'm sure that you are a very dedicated guy in a very high pressure job, but I'm sure that you can understand my situation.

Having said that, I am going to ask my wife to give you a call..
