We will be OK. Yep, turnovers and penalties in the red zone against what should be an inferior team?

So, you're OK with taking 25-33 percent of the entire season to "get going"?

No coach, let alone one making $2.1 million per, should be given such a window. Problem is, in most games, it takes a quarter or more for his team to realize that the game has kicked off.

Against good competition, the game is long over by then.

Pre-conference games are and should be played to be won. It's not the NFL preseason.

#clueless (or I just didn't get the sarcasm).

I agree with ponyte. SMU's offensive line is not picking up on some blitzes but otherwise it seems their one on one blocking is solid to good. And, Gilbert seems to have more time this year then last year at this time of the season. Montana State was flooding the line with lbs and dbs. I don't know exactly what the blocking scheme is but there is some kind of Zone blocking and the guys are not blocking down or picking up the blitz or something. Also, the most effective blitz last night looked to me to have come from outside where we were outnumbered and didn't have a back to pick up. The thought there was probably that a db coming from that distance should give Gilbert enough time to pass before the db can make contact. True unless Gilbert doesn't see an open man and doesn't see the blitzing db. Anyway, I believe these problems will be worked out with experience. Moreover, if you look at Gilbert's production this year and compare it with last year's one must conclude that the line is improved.

Last night was a must win game because we replaced a sold out game for an automatic win. Unfortunately we opted for a good team in its place that could easily beat the lower third of FBS teams. We play any worse and we easily lose last night. This was no surprise. The outcome, i.e. a last minute win, was expected from day one so I put that on the AD for being a knucklehead and not scheduling one of the worst FCS teams. If the point is to win games schedule a team that you will definitely beat. If not, then keep Baylor on the schedule. I really think Montana State can beat Memphis, UCONN, USF, Temple so I fully expect to beat those teams. I think we will have at least 1 good game among UH/Rutgers/UCF/TCU and get to 6 or 7 wins. That has been my expectation from the start and nothing has happened to change my expectation. We played Texas Tech close for 3 quarters and managed to win last night. When in the last 20 years have we done any better than that? We are not improving over the last 4 years, but we are maintaining form. If we manage to go to a bowl game at the end of the season I think that is a positive and I will be happy. I still would like to see improvement in performance, results, and recruiting. It would be great to have June lead us to a bowl win and step away at the end of the season, but if he insists on honoring his contract I would not blow $2 million on paying him not to coach. It's not my money so if someone has enough money not to care about blowing a cool $2million by all means go ahead.

I saw Mrydel on the boulevard. Always good to see him.

Montana State D-Line was very undersized and penetrated very well on us. Gilbert played great.

I had a death in the family (my mother's sister) so couldn't make it. Wish I had cause I bet the drive home with mrydel would have been a top 2 trip for us. Or at least for me. Had we lost, mrydel would have had extra pressure cause I would have been on suicide alert.[/quote

I am very sorry for your loss.

Thank you
