DALLAS (SMU) - SMU and Michigan will meet on the gridiron on Sept. 15, 2018, in Ann Arbor, the two schools announced today. It will be just the second all-time meeting between the two programs.
The 2018 meeting will be SMU's first against a Big Ten opponent since playing at Wisconsin in 1995.

I'd hate for the TCU series to go away. Even though we've lost the past two years, it's a great rivalry that attracts a lot of attention in the Metroplex.
Accoridng to the schedule linked above, TCU is a home game in 2018 while Baylor isn't listed.
Yeah, my bad. I've gotta quit drinking at lunch

Yeah, I doubt we'd play BU, Michigan, and TCU out of conference in one season. The fourth game will probably be an FCS team or something

question is why won't Michigan give us a return game at Jerryworld? You would think they would want the Texas exposure. I assume we asked and they said no, or maybe we are just going to concede Jerryworld to TCU.

Think it's called "Ponying up $$$$" for a return appearance fee

I'd rather see us do it at the Cotton Bowl for opening weekend of the State Fair. Would get more people to attend, probably. F Jerryworld

If there was a return game from Michigan, I would rather have it at the Cotton Bowl myself. . . After all, it is the "House that Doak built!"

What do they gain from it? UM-UA is a sellout (with high ticket prices) and a national TV game in prime time. Would any of those apply to UM-SMU? Is SMU willing to bet on a $4M+ guarantee?

We have to start upgrading our recruiting now if we hope to beat them at their place.

Right now, the guys we have committed for next year would be RS Seniors for this game. We've got time, now we just need a staff that cares about recruiting

call it a neutral field game under a separate contract and split the gate 50/50. Why would Michigan do it? simply Recruiting, Recruiting, Recruiting. The same reason Notre Dame played here this year.

Yep. Also they don't want three powerhouses on their OOC slate- they would view us as an easy W and a strategic recruiting trip. Win-win for them
