When are you guys going to realize that for the majority of kids, this isn't something that's a top priority

I agree there is a segment of kids that don't care. SMU will never be successful recruiting them.

Not a huge deal, if it weren't for kids like that our retail and food service industries would be screwed

The board is about sports not education. I have yet to see a thread about an unathletic national merit scholar committing to any school.

Since he lives in that part of the country a degree from SMU may not be that much higher than USF to the local people there.

I remember when people got excited that he committed to SMU. But now, somehow, June lost him.

He's 18 years old (I assume), he sees a school in Florida, which is closer to his home in south Georgia, which has a record of 9-1 including a win over Louisville, and a campus that probably has more blond female students than we have students (male and female, graduate and undergrad). Kids change their minds. It happens. I hope he doesn't have great success against us, but other than that, it's a waste of time to worry about him. He was committed to us, but never actually became a Mustang. I'm comfortable with Burcham, Preston if he plays again, Krstich, Severt and Colbert. That's still a very talented group of QBs, and only one can play at a time, anyway.

Really? You think that a strong group of QBs in the Run and Shoot and Gun where the QB is the most important player on the field? I think every one of them is a developmental type recruit-hopefully one develops and doesn't get hurt because its thin too. I'd be looking at the transfer wire with this group

Still time to flip him back. Sounds like he has an arm we could use.

I think you argue just to argue some times. :D

I'm not kidding myself that getting an education is still the #1 reason most kids commit to a program. There are many factors including location, family, fame, ego, etc. Education is just one factor, and one not important to some. Moreover, a "good" education can still be received at a lowly state school (said from experience). I'm just not willing to say it means nothing or that it isn't relevant to student athletes. Frankly, if that is the case, then SMU should just shut it down now.

If I don't care too much about my education and I'm from Georgia, I pick a school in sunny/warm Orlando with a better football program (assuming I have a good chance to play early) than one in Dallas. Sorry, but that's just the truth. Of course, if we had better recruiters we could probably keep the commitment. Also, I didn't realize that UCF was a QB factory. This one really stings there's no way around it. The WDNWHA committee is going to have a tough time spinning this one.

Something tells me you sunshiners would be "comfortable" if we had a bunch of cadavers at QB
