BU will never be good recruiting to Waco. Wait Art Briles brought the players in and built a # 5 team
TTU can't recruit to Lubbock but same thing Leach takes them to top 10 status.
Crum Center was going to revolutionize SMU hoops - yet Doh fielded some of the worst teams in SMU history.
We need a head coach who doesn't brag about winning the games when he had " equal" talent. How lame is that! We only beat teams in the bottom 75 percentile and yet that is seen as positive.
We don't need an IPF - it would be nice trinket - but the coach will determine our fate. Which is why they make so much money.
I think all those schools you mentioned would attribute their success to Coaching while recruiting, not just coaching. Did Nick Saban suck as the Dolphins coach because he forgot how to coach for 2 seasons? Or was it because he no longer was in control of building a roster that gave him an advantage over his opponents? Edit: I see now you meant coaching vs facilities, not coaching vs recruiting. But having an IPF plays into recruiting. As others have mentioned, it may not ACTUALLY help the team improve, but it is a flashy trophy to show off to recruits. It all comes back to recruiting.

We need an IPF. I know the coach is really the #1 priority there, but we need the IPF. This week was unsafe for our boys to practice. I say IPF should be #1 athletic department priority in terms of building. We need Westcott to become the IPF and move them across 75. Really really helps in recruiting. Just like SMU's beautiful campus helped you decide for SMU, so it does for the football players. Do we want to be in the haves or have nots!

FTHP, you realize that in the 1980's, we would only ever have 30-40k of our own fans right? Why would you ever want to expand ford when we just had 13k for a game? Stop being a clown

WE ARE NOT IN THE 80's anymore BOP. We are in a position to build upon our fan base. We can have 50k people coming to the stadium every week. TCU did it while in MWC for 4 straight years. We can do it. We need to win. Stop being so negative, and have some respect...do not call me a clown unless you are willing to do so in my face!

When you buy me $50 worth of drinks at Milo's when I win our bet, I will be happy to call you a clown if you wish, until them, I suggest you take the moon boots back off.

TCU never had "50k people coming to the stadium every week" at any point, and certainly not while they were in the MWC or for 4 straight years. I try not to spend time attacking you like many on the board, but if you are as uninformed as it seems that you are, maybe go easy on the bold claims and just read the message board some more.

They had good attendance these last few years. I will of course say since in Big 12 their attendance jumped by 10k. They still had really good attendance overall...better than us. To answer BOP...SMU had 40-50k in the 80s ? We can get back up there...that is what "marketing ploys" are for.

What's the point of building an expensive recruiting asset if your coaching staff doesn't know how to recruit?

Do you realize we will have a new coaching staff/recruiter for 2014?

As of 7:47PM tonight, it looks like we don't. If that changes, of course, let's talk about capital improvements. But, as of right now, that would be like handing the keys of a 2014 Vette to Stephen Hawking. What the hell is the point.

In 2011, SMU was slated to have its best recruiting class ever before the ASU debacle. The difference between then and now wasn't an IPF, it was that we had someone who actually recruited.
Oklahoma State has an IPF. You know where they practiced this week? Outside.
If we did have an IPF, would they finally tackle in practice?

IPF is not critical to our improvement. In the case of football you must practice in the conditions under which you play. You do not improve sitting in air conditioning then play when the on field temperatures are 140 degree or 12 degrees as we experienced this year. IPF is an excuse and will make an appreciable difference.
