Maybe someone a with a little more insight can comment about where Florida stands economically.

UCF is a commuter school, so imagine how it would be if UNT got a BCS bowl bid...same small draw.

I would like to see how SMU fans would do if we got a BCS bowl bid...TCU packed 40,000 into the Rose Bowl so bringing less than that would be a shame. Then again, it's the same entitled kids that can't be bothered to see their team play because it's 16 degrees outside...

It would be awesome if when we start having our 9+ win seasons, we get invited to play at the Cowboys Classic

SMU vs. Notre Dame, or SMU vs. Arkansas, or even SMU vs. Michigan in 2019 making it a back to back series.

Yeah. I remember those days in the Cotton Bowl with 15,000 SMU fans and 40,000 Razorbacks.

i think UCF is a below average school, therefore their alumni don't have good jobs and can't afford to make the trip. Should have let the high demographic school win. we show up when it matters - it just rarely matters.

Would it be 15,000 if we were ranked #12 and going vs. Arky in an opener at Jerryworld? How many fans would you think SMU would bring?

I say 35,000 at least.

considering UCF has 35-40k students, I thought they MIGHT sell the allotment. But this only confirms that if you are not a big power football school with tradition then you won't be selling the allotment. I personally think it's ridiculous that they require a certain amount to be sold. If SMU was in this position we would be in the same boat

TCU brought 40k people to the Rose Bowl in 2010.

UCF is a commuter school...it's the same as if UNT went to a BCS bowl

They have 51k undergrad, 60k total. They've awarded 100k degrees in less than the last 20 years. Sucks for them, but SMU would not have had a problem selling this BCS allotment, especially against Baylor.

True, I think we would bring more people to the BCS bowl than we bring to Ford!

FL to AZ isn't exactly a short trip.

So you saying more than 5,000 SMU fans went to Hawaii in 2009? Really?

Twenty-one hundred and fifty miles (2150) one way from Orlando to Glendale, and more than thirty hours of driving time. A popup note on Mapquest said, "That's a Long Trip!" Classes at UCF probably start on the sixth after the game on the first, I think. Epic road trip IMO. If anyone on this message board has made a similar car trip for a ball game, or concert, or to gamble, I hope you will share the experience.
