Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoMason was hired by JJ.
But back to the subject, was the biggest single season turnaround in NCAA history that JJ accomplished at Hawaii also something any warm body could have pulled off? Is there nothing to the culture change philosophy whereby losing programs are turned into winning from the inside out? Is is that an illusion as well? We could have hired Todd Dodge after all?
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony Romo
So was Palcic, Herring, and the others. DITR hiring doesn't work most of the time either. Also, June told us at a luncheon that the offensive line that he inherited from the previous coach was all conference quality. I think the next year after they graduated he did not do to well. #HammerDown
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoSo June gets credit for the win even though his offense couldn't deliver?!? Good god, he really can do no wrong in your eyes. Thanks for literally everything June! SMU is nothing without you!
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoHaha - I guess we know who will be sitting in the front row at the screening of Born in June!
Pass the popcorn!
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony Romo
He gets blame when the defense sucks and deserves some of the credit when the defense is good. He is the head coach not the offensive coordinator.
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoRight...that's what June is hired for, his staff management not his offensive system

Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony Romo
So June gets no blame from you if the defense sucks? Sounds like that is what you are saying. Ridiculous.
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoIt's too bad Jones and Steinberg couldn't generate this kind of publicity during the season. Maybe we could have gotten more people in the stands if they had worked as hard as they are now.

Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoGood idea lets get into the sunbelt! The world beaters (MTSU, FAU, FIU, UNT) have all left for greener pastures! [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND COLD SWEAT] We would crush ASU! Memphis beat them this year (31-7). Good recruiting my arse! If we want to follow their model schedule 12 Powder puffs and see what happens!!!!
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony Romo
exactly! It is just like the employee that begins to work really hard right around the time for year-end performance reviews!
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoJune parlayed the undefeated regular season ( look at the close calls against bad teams that season), overall weak conference, talent pool of some South Pacific talent nobody else knew about, some transfers along with being one of the coaches early to the party on the passing offense transition into the SMU job. Rather than build on it with the biggest and best high school talent pool in the country, he let the opportunity to build a national power instead into one happy to go to a bowl and steal a win on the road occasionally. It is called settling for average instead of aspiring to be the best you can be. That is not what Texans are about, especially passionate Texas football fans, players and coaches.
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoWho the heck blames June for a bad defensive game? I have never heard that once. I don't assume June has anything to do with our defense, what-so-ever. You guys are weird. Our defense has not been the reason we only have 6 wins against opponents with winning records...
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoYea Obama is not repomsoble for Obamacare, it's that Sebelius he hired.
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony Romo
You are right, no one gave him any blame for the Rutgers game. He is the head coach, he does not avoid blame for bad defense. It is insane to say otherwise.
Re: Cowlishaw: June Jones is SMU's Tony RomoIf you say so...? I honestly have no idea what point you are trying to make.
