Does it count if he's just swapping DITRs for other DITRs? Mass cuts are warranted when you're upgrading talent (see Bama's or LBs cuts).

At this point, I have a morbid excitement about this upcoming year.

It seems unethical to even sign a recruiting class when the next coach will have to cut all of them next year

Looking at Houston's class (at least on Rival's) I would say a quick glance shows we have a slightly better class than them (if you just look at stars)? Although I think I remember Stallion posting something about how their class has some Texas Top 100 or something (I'm just trying to get a comparison to a school that we REALLY need to recruit better than to have a chance to win the AAC at some point - I think USF and UCF right now have set the bar and are way ahead of us unfortunately . . . so I'm looking at Houston as the next good baseline comparison). Pathetically, I can't even look at any B12 school because it just depresses me.
Thoughts?

A look at our last football game against them last year and during the JJ era (except the "lightning in a bottle" game at Ford in 2012) tells you all you need to know about who is recruiting better............

Well, that's what I'm thinking but if we have a few years of having more "3 stars" than they do and then we get blown out 34-0 something's wrong (either with the coaches or the recruiting services).

Regardless of what side of the "cupboard is bare" argument you fall on, I think it's safe to say that most of us would agree that at this point we need to clear out some of the DITRs who did not pan out. Right now, there are too many areas of need that need to be addressed for us to be carrying dead weight.
You hate to do that, but a scholarship is a one-year contract, and right now we can only afford to give them to kids who will contribute.
That being said, several of the kids who have left did so for issues other than being run off for lack of performance.

Look at the Houston kids offer list and look at ours. I believe there is a difference.

So we clear out dead weight to add dead weight? Unless we start recruiting better better all that would be doing is giving the coaches excuses to buy more time for their contract here by saying we have a young team. They seem to do that every year. You talk as if half the class had lower level BCS offers and we need to clear room for them. June said yesterday that the level we are on now we are not recruiting those types of players. So moving dead weight to add dead weight is probably not going to work.

Our problem is we're not only giving them to kids who will contribute, we will probably come out with as much or more dead weight than before. So all we really did was make the team younger but not better since best case it'll be a few seasons before most of the new kids are ready to do something on the field.

JJ's body language said it all last night. He clearly did not want to be there and was really anxious about taking questions...even if they were thrown at him like softballs

It is like going through the motions, but I don't understand why we have to do this? IF basketball and current conference realignment scenarios illustrate anything, is that the time is now now now. Where on earth is the urgency???
