False alarm. I talked to Darrel Saturday afternoon, and told him about the speculation about how solid his commitment is.

He seemed surprised that it was even brought up. He said he had signed his letter of intent in February, and that he plans to be in Dallas this summer, getting ready to suit up for the Mustangs in the fall.

Start as a frosh with the R & S under JJ !!!!!!! Colbert did not have a particularly impressive senior year in high school and may not have even been offered if based on his senior performance. Kid is an athlete and look for him to contribute in about 3 years after a red shirt frosh year.

I hope Colbert and Severt are as talented as we think they are, but starting right away? JJ has talked about how Gilbert's last season was much better because of the time it takes to get comfortable in the system. If that's really true, then Burcham has to be the prohibitive favorite going in, right?

Ha! I was watching the Miami vs VT game, and they showed a snapshot with Shadeur, and a few other QBs, with a guy named Darrel Colbert (who was labeled a QB coach). I was like “why is that name so familiar? Wasn’t he an SMU QB?”
