Re: A&M-UCLA start series in 2016Ok, but it's an easy ride. Not everywhere can be as attractive as Fresno.

Re: A&M-UCLA start series in 2016
That's not true, the Pac-10 schools never considered Boise. Boise brings nothing (academic, athletic or ratings) to the Pac-10 schools. As for the Oklahoma schools, OU is stronger than OSU. But even OSU is light years ahead of Boise.
For the Pac-12 schools, culture is important. That's why BYU wasn't seriously considered.
Re: A&M-UCLA start series in 2016
its not so much that BYU is religious but more that due to their brand of religion they are a pain in the [deleted] b/c of things like refusing to play on Sundays.
Re: A&M-UCLA start series in 2016Culture is important huh? UTAH?? are you kidding? a largely LDS student body is a good fit for Pac 10 culture? So much in common with Cal, Colorado, UCLA and Udub. rrright. I would hasten a geuss that the percentage of overtly super religious students at Utah is only slightly less than at BYU yet UTAH generates quite a bit less revenue. BYU is a brand my friend. Liken BYU to a Notre Dame for Mormons. A big big draw revenue wise. Clearly, BYU chose NOT to affiliate with the PAC.
Oklahoma State ranks ahead of OU in many undergrad and grad Engineering programs (and Physics). The two schools are quite close academically but maybe OU has the edge overall. Like saying Iowa is better than Iowa State or somehow Kstate is inferior to Kansas. Depends entirely on the program as some Ag schools are very strong in certain disciplines. Yes, Boise State may be speculation by wanna be bronco fans but my point was that if they had the revenue the Pac 10 would throw all the other stuff out the window. Its about what an institution brings to the table revenue wise not whether BSU is a glorified J.C (it is). Its speculation on my part regarding Boise but I think the PAC would take a school like this if they had the TV revenue/fans.
Re: A&M-UCLA start series in 2016but they don't. so they won't.
And the PAC does not want BYU - NOTHING can be scheduled on a sunday - and that hurts all their down the line sports…plus Utah may be similar in student body - but they aren't officially Mormon which is a hang up for the california schools. and okies state is well behind OU by almost any measure.
Re: A&M-UCLA start series in 2016
K-State is a glorified junior college. . . K-State will never sniff the PAC 12 or Big invitation because of their academics. 2015 INDIANAPOLIS OR BUST
Re: A&M-UCLA start series in 2016BYU existed in the WAC for many years and I never heard anything about scheduling being problem but I do not follow the Cougars. I"m sure its an inconvenience so I stand corrected. My point was that academics has nothing to do with any of this. Utah is not a very good school. Neither is ASU. ASU is not better than Ok State etc. (Yes, quite a few areas where OSU trumps OU but fantasies persist, your obviously not an engineer or tech type) I imagine Kstate, Kansas and Texas Tech are no different) . None of the aforementioned are even close to the California schools excepting BYU.
Its all about Revenue. Just ask the ACC or their new compatriot Louisville.
