I think basketball's rise has put pressure on the football coaches, and they feel it. Let's not get upset about that, if it does push them to recruit more then that's something to be happy about

I agree that this is great.
Part of the basketball influence may also being the reinforced realization that you can get highly recruited athletes to SMU.

Your basic, average 3 star 2015 SMU Basketball recruit recently said: "Coach Brown talks to me about three days a week." Almost ALL-and I do mean ALL the Basketball recruits say the same type of thing. Its great they are hitting up local schools but I'll really be impressed when any football recruit says something remotely similar about our football coaches. They used to say the same about Adrian Klemm
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

Big week for @SMU_Football... All 9 ACs getting after it in DFW this week. Will hit well over 100 schools in Metroplex.

Seems like a cursory effort to make it look like he values recruiting. Probably should have tried this before he became a lame duck.

Agree. Too little too late. Now a whole season of scrimmages/preseason football

I believe the last two weeks were NCAA quite time. Saw coach Daniels last week and he was planning out his travel itinerary ... Dallas and the Metro-plex the next two weeks, then the Houston area. Also, 9 underclassmen from a big 5A (now 6A) coming in this weekend for an unofficial.

Good luck coaches

JJ in danger of getting some credit. I'm on the 40th floor of a downtown building and I can say that I have not yet seen pigs flying....

Guys this is the Leigh Steinburg rehabilitation tour.

JJ is gone - everyone knows it.

Steinburg is posturing JJ for the next job. You can hear his explaination to a prospective employer " June blitzed the metroplex and visited 100 schools yet no one was interested in being coached by an NFL COACH - why, because SMU doesn't have the facilities to attract quality players".

The most telling sign about JJs stature as a college coach is he is losing assistants and can't attract quality coaches from other staffs so he promoted a GA ( without recruiting cred) to LB coach.

Yawn. Nothing to see here. Move along.

SMU isn't the only school making a blitz of its local HS this week: http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.co ... h-schools/
