Figured you'd be upset that TCU was left out.
I'm not a TCU fan, I am glad they are not ranked.

Honest question, why does it say Big 12 in your screen name? I had always assumed you were a fan of some or all of the teams in that conference since it is how you named yourself.

My hope is that through hard work in the field and the court, as well as increasing our fan base, attendance to games and TV viewership...we become attractive enough so that we get an invite to either Big 12 conference or any other P5. I consider the Texas and Oklahoma members of that conference rivals of SMU (Especially the Whorens, TCU, BU/TT etc.) and I do not care for the others...so, no, I am not a fan of any Big 12 team except SMU in a future scenario.

Well...I have a clear preference for a more regional conference that resembles the old SWC. I could say I would love SEC but chances aren't good we will end up there. We realistically have a better shot at B12 than any other P5 right now-think about it, TCU and WVU never thought they would be in Big 12 in the year 2010...part of the reasons we got left behind were apathetic fanbase and lack of competitiveness late in the game (post DP). TCU fixed that, therefore they are in. Being an SMU fan is hard enough here in Texas...these guys here (ECM and co.) certainly don't help make it easier.. They should just stop being so [deleted] me and others here, and pushing people away.

The consequences of this last round of realignment will start rearing its ugly head when teams are unable to build rivalries with their new members and they figure out that it was better to align conferences by historic/geographic lines. Everyone is moving to this state, so adding an extra member should not be out of the question...especially to keep other P5s out of the metroplex. Here's something I read a while back regarding Big 12 and their future. Realignment is always in their mind and so are we. Think about it...who else could they add that makes sense? And this is them talking about an SMU that hasn't won anything-Imagine if we start racking up championships and top 25 rankings in our major sports...I don't think B12 wants an ACC team in the Metroplex to give them a headache like the SEC is doing with A&M. While the commissioner maintained that the Big 12 will hold at ten members until “persuaded†to do otherwise, he did hint at which schools could be targeted should the conference expand. When asked if there were any teams that could persuade expansion, Bolwsby replied that there were none he was prepared to discuss at the moment. That tells me that the Big 12 has a list of schools they want to add. Bowlsby continued by saying, “If you want to know what schools the Big 12 might be interested in look at the conference’s current membersâ€. If that is the way we are to play this game then so be it. Schools that have history with current members would be near the top of the list. That means that the SMU Mustangs (former member of the Southwest Conference, big rivalry with TCU), Cincinnati Bearcats (member of Big East with WVU), Boise State Broncos (had a blossoming rivalry with TCU when both were Mountain West members), and the BYU Cougars (popular non-conference opponent in the past and future) are all prime targets for expansion. Just following the clues here Mr. Bowlsby. Read more at http://www.rantsports.com/ncaa-football ... RF6ua7p.99

Sure you do, just not one with Texas or Oklahoma. Who knows we may be conference mates next time the chairs shuffle.

As much as despise those two programs I can't deny that they're an essential part of the big 12, it's hardly the same conference without them.

Absolutely, it would be a disaster for those of us left (BU, TCU, KSU, ISU, and maybe one or two more).

SMU will never be in this configuration of the Big XII, Maybe the Bastard XII which would be something like
BU TCU KU KSU ISU SMU UH CIncy UCF USF BYU Memphis
I may as well assume that WVU and UConn would get swept up by the ACC, but technically, they could be in there as well.

I can live without Bevo or OU. I actually like that configuration.

It is possible, with a stretch of the imagination, to think SMU might be part of the conference BOP suggests. What is harder to believe is that it would stay a P5 conference any longer than the original BE after the defections.

It takes a special kind of ignorance to think we will ever be in the Big 12, unless its configuration changes drastically. I can't see TCU or Baylor ever wanting to be conference mates with us again, but we'll see.
