They have no control but they could have offered him another year. We do not know if they did or not.

I remember this kid when SMU played Rice in Houston our last year, and the year before that at SMU .... I thought he was very good ... tough/hard nose and ran to the ball well ... def played down hill. I think this is a good get. Other then his knee injury recovery, unlike transfers in the past as someone has already pointed out (GG not incl), we don't have to wounder if he can play.

Sounds like he can be productive here. Glad to have him.
On the Rice board, someone mentioned that he is getting a scholarship from us. Did we have any to give?

According to a post on the Rice board, Rice does not give athletic scholarships to graduate students.

BS-the Rice coach said mid season last year they were probably going to redshirt him if he wasn't able to return to action soon. They said if he was available that week he would definitely play

BTW the kid had a nice 4.38 GPA in High School

Interesting Stat: Set NCAA record by blocking 3 Kicks in one half versus UCLA-god knows we need special teams help. !n 2012 returned two fumbles for TD including a 21 yard return against SMU

Gotta love a plug and play ready LB in the middle. Kid is obviously smart and talented. Really hope that Stephon Sanders is healthy and ready to go. We desperately need an outside edge rusher that can create pressure.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I have high hopes for Jonathan Yenga this year. He had the most sacks on the team last year, and I expect him to only get better. Agree though that Stephon needs to have a really good senior year. He regressed last year. We badly need these guys to provide pressure off the edge to have much of a chance on defense...

I watched that game. Thought that Margus was going to have some competition for his records after the display he put on.

We've been highly critical of the high school recruiting, but the caliber of transfers seems to actually be improving.

Give me a transfer over a recruit any day. Much more proven commodity.
