Not sure this is accurate as it is literally CUSA West all over again...just thinking he probably doesn't need much of a talent upgrade to win more games.

Sounds like you are talking about next year once the conference splits into divisions. I am not saying it is a massive upgrade, but certainly cincy and UCF are better than most of cusa-west was.

I'm calling my shot now: June finds a way to win 6+, makes a bowl, and is back in 2015. And with the way we're recruiting right now, I'm fine with that.

Agreed- and hoping it will be even better this year, as the SEC Network will siphon games away from ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU and give them more slots to show other games.

I hope so. I have said again and again that if he somehow radically improved recruiting I would love to keep him around. I would love to go to a bowl this season and take a couple steps up in our level of talent.

While I agree with this post, I do have one troubling thought -- Why the heck did it take THIS LONG to freaking recruit? 6 years? I worry this last ditch effort is just for show, and will not be kept up. If it can be sustained, I'm okay with JJ and staff provided they go bowling this year somehow. Otherwise, I still want Chad Morris.

Your jadedness and cynicism are noted. However, there are times when you just have to accept things at face value. This is one of those times.

I think a healthy dose of cynicism is quite valid when there is so much overwhelming evidence over the last 2-3 years regarding the staff and its recruiting efforts. What we have seen over the last few months is a very good step in the right direction and had this sort of effort and sense of desperation been apparent back in 2011 and 2012 we wouldn't be facing a season with so many holes on both sides of the ball. This effort was needed and required for the amount of money we are giving Jones. It is embarrassing that it took this long to take root but all things being what they are I will gladly take it and give Jones and the staff the full measure of gratitude they deserve.
Well done coaches and, specifically, Coach Jones.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I have a feeling that June had not fully recovered from 2011 (ASU fiasco, Klemm, etc.) and that caused 2 years of suffering (Tulane, 5-7, beat downs by TCU, A&M etc.). It may be that he finally has recovered and come back to his senses. He looks healthier in the pictures and happier (although any man would be happier with that chick next to him.. )

I remember the days when we were in the WAC sitting up on my boat at Texoma at midnight on Saturday nights trying to tune in an away game on an AM radio –– and being able to catch maybe 1 word in 5. Soooo frustrating.
Of course we now have the internet, but access and coverage is so much improved over those days. Really looking forward to hosting some away-game watching parties this fall.
I'm not going to try to rationalize or excuse June over the past apparent lack of effort. I know there was plenty of frustration and finger-pointing on all sides (Jones vs. fans vs. administration and admissions). I do feel the issue may not be so much the lack of effort but the lack of publicizing the effort –– which I believe was a directive from Mr. Hart. Whatever. Perception in this case IS reality, and if June & Co. have learned a few things then more power to them. The more local, GOOD publicity the better, and it clearly seems to be bearing fruit. Hindsight is always 20/20. If they're willing to learn from past deficiencies and move forward, then PonyUP!

It's undoubtedly a last ditch effort to keep his 2 million dollar a year gravy train rolling (fear is a powerful motivator). He still needs to kick it up a few notches to land a truly legit class (the kind we need to win championships and P5 games).

Do only two of the current committments have offers from schools that are part of the power conferences?
