Yeah I thought about including Boise but their isolated location and terrible academics make them a non-comparison for a school like SMU. The fact that they have achieved such remarkable success while we've wallowed in mediocrity is disgusting.

Why do people list academics as an advantage for SMU? It is a disadvantage. Not that we shouldn't be able to get over it, but the athletes NEVER come for an actual education, so the more academic you are the harder it is to get them to come and to stay. Others have figured out how to hand out fake degrees, so they have overcome the problem - but academics has no place in the decision matrix for the typical athlete that we should want to recruit.

There are quality athletes for whom academics matter. I would be happy if we did as well as Stanford (11-3, Rose Bowl), Vandy (9-4, BBVA Compass Bowl) or Duke (10-4, Chik-fil-a Bowl).
