I think we have to be realistic about the future. What evidence do we have to suggest that the NCAA will not continue to bow down to the P5 and further neglect and isolate the G5? Absolutely zero. It is a sad state of affairs and a real indictment on the state of college athletics but the reality is that most of the G5 programs are going to be faced with getting rid of football. Recruiting, budgets, exposure, etc. will be virtually eliminated in the near future.

It sucks but I really think that we won't have a program in the next 10-15 years. And that is an absolute shame.

So you are saying ESPN is willing to lose these viewers? Because they are small in numbers? I always thought that the networks are looking to expand viewership, not cut it. Maybe the G5 viewers are so miniscule that they don't matter.

I'd never watch P5 games again, and I'm in ACC SEC country. Eff them.

How can Briles vote this way when Baylor's out of conference schedule has been a joke and he has been called out for it by other P5 coaches. Briles is starting to really irritate me with his Baylor at the top BS when he lost to UCF. Also Weis must be wanting a better excuse to keep losing. The Bowls will love to have teams with losing records like Kansas, ISU, Wake Forest, Miss.St, Oregon State, etc.

the more I think about this I think its a bluff. And if they ever tried it, the boycott would strengthen the non-P5's antitrust case including a particular type known as "Concerted Refusal to Deal". Its a lot of noise-warning -don't vote against us or we won't play you. Here's a good definition. Basically, UT doesn't have to play SMU but UT, A&M, Tech etc can't get together an mutually agree (ie conspire) to refuse to ever play SMU under any circumstances.

I think the ability to more fully capitalize on the P5 could generate more money than they will lose from the G5s.
It's like the NBA adding the 3 point arc. Sure they lost some purists but they gained so many new fans through marketing a more exciting game.

How many of the P5 coaches wanting to lock out the non-P5 schools have more than one P5 school currently on their OOC slate? I'd be willing to bet I could count them on one hand

I'm sorry - am I just missing it, or isn't the main point with today's news that a quality recruit will never set foot on the hilltop again because they won't get paid? Isn't that the story here?

Also, is there any chance we can shoehorn our way into the Big 10 or another of the 5 conferences?

Is it just me or does today's news make the day Eman boltes on us look like Christmas morning?

JasonB wrote:I expected smaller schools to be in the "NO" category in order to both schedule more home games and have a shot at being bowl eligible. Really interesting to see Texas in the No category. And Ohio State for that matter. Then again, Ohio State, Texas, and Florida State all typically have weak non-conference schedules to enhance the chance at a big run.

Baylor, Kansas, and Iowa State really haven't thought this thing through. The chance of being bowl eligible goes out the window for them a lot of years if they have a tough non-conference. Baylor wouldn't be as well regarded as they are today if they weren't putting 70 something up in their pre-season.

I think you missed this part.

Because of the tougher schedules under this hypothetical scenario, teams would not be required to reach six wins to play in a bowl.

They want to be able to change bowl eligibility rules also so that they can own all of the bowls and stick losing teams in there so that the P5 keep all the revenue.
