A&M was an 11pt underdog at SC and won by 24 I think Temple was a 14pt underdog at Vandy and won by THIRTY
College football is crazy. Anything can happen. I'm excited for Sunday. No, I haven't started drinking yet this morning.
Sadly after entering my 9th fall as a SMU football fan, I do not have hope. Outside of the TCU game in 2011 and the Hawaii/BBVA bowl games, I have seen little-to-no evidence that we have turned a corner both in terms of competing with quality teams. Call me a bad fan (yes I will watch every minute of every game this fall), but unlike years past, I hold no hope that we will come close to beating any quality opponent. /end sad rant

Wasn't it related to Obama as well?

My head thinks that taking Baylor, and giving up 33 points is a license to print money.
My heart hopes that my head is full of [deleted].

hope is a very dangerous 4 letter word around here.. especially as it relates to football and baylor.
Happy to stick around for basketball, but avoiding the bloodbath that will occur in Waco
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

Hard work , recruiting and good coaches coaching good players generally wins out over "hoping and wishing".

Methodists win!!!!
Methodist believe in the Sabbath as well. So I believe after 7 years at SMU that June will have the team ready.
A football team should be built in 6 years. On the 7th you rest.

Much as I don't admire anyone naive enough to donate to Obama and vote for him - (twice?? really?) - I do admire any loyal Mustang fan of 9 years. At least us older fans have seen a nationally relevant SMU in football - and that little glimmer keeps us coming back year after year, plus just blind school loyalty. But the 9 yr guys have seen a couple of mid level bowl games and a win over TCU over the span of about a decade - and that is about it. Good for them for hanging in there. Hope our administration can deliver a real reason to have hope soon. Just need some friggin energy, and they will come running back.

This may be the most sobering/depressing post I've ever seen.

Family are Jewish New Yorkers...will never go red. (Ending political discussions ) This is why basketball's success is so exciting for me, especially considering the fact that I am a basketball guy at my core. More and more people recognize the SMU logo (and quizzically ask "isn't that where Larry Brown coaches?") when I wear SMU gear around town, and it's exciting that they correlate SMU with an up and coming program. I want nothing more than for my teams at SMU (and ATL pro teams) to win consistently and win championships, and I will cheer for my teams until the day I die. Hell, Atlanta was named the most miserable sports city. I need some wins. http://www.forbes.com/sites/tomvanriper ... ties-2014/I wrote to Bill Simmons after the Braves/Falcons seasons [effectively] ended last year. He was kind/cruel enough to publish my e-mail. Miami’s Bye Week (-6.5) over Atlanta’s Bye Week How tough was this week for Atlanta sports fans? A glassy-eyed Rembert Browne asked me after three drinks this week, “Do you think I should own the Atlanta sports corner for Grantland, or is that corner just too depressing?†The answers: yes and yes. (By the way, EVERYONE is depressed about Julio Jones going down. Who wants to live in a world with a RedZone channel that doesn’t have Julio Jones? I certainly don’t.) Here’s the best Atlanta e-mail I received this week, courtesy of Harrison in Atlanta: “In my 26 years of living in Atlanta, tonight is without a doubt the worst night ever. Tonight was worse than Game 7 of the 1988 EC Semis vs. Bird, Game 6 & 7 of the 1991 World Series vs. the Twins, the 1996 World Series vs. the Yankees (took first two games at Yankee Stadium and promptly lost the next 4), our only Super Bowl appearance (damn you Eugene), the 2005 18 inning NLDS walk-off loss to the Astros and Chris Burke (Yes, Chris Burke), the 2012 Infield Fly Wild Card Game and even the 2013 NFC Championship. Being an Atlanta sports fan is like being in love with a knockout stripper who keeps breaking your heart by stealing all of your money, only you can’t help going back time and time again.â€http://grantland.com/features/an-offens ... love-hate/
