Anyone know what Philip Montgomery at Baylor is making these days?

You will still be asking 10 guys to pitch in 100k min a piece to "upgrade" the salaries - so I think you can assume we will be looking at a similar package for the HC - and an increase in the assistants so that we can get three to four world beater recruiters. basketball has taken some of the pressure off the dept financially so that is probably very helpful.

There is no need to go to 4M. Just hire the right person. June pulled us up from horrible to average (or perhaps below average at the moment). The way up from here is going to have way more to do with pride, energy, salesmanship and street smarts then with money. We need to find someone possessed.

Move up from what? CUSA? MAC? Sunbelt? FCS?

Yes. At this point I would literally dare the NCAA to try something at this point. What do we have to lose with them bending over and breaking out the kneepads for the P5 at every turn? Time to see what Sherwood and the Naughty Nine are up to these days. And I'm not kidding.

Rebstang will throw up again but Houston Nutt is looking for a coaching job. He is a back slapping, rah rah, out in the public guy. He knows all the dirty little tricks, and he can coach too. He would not stay for long, and you probably do not want him for too long but he can turn a program and excite a fan base.

I afraid the stigma of poor recruiting may abide within anyone from the current staff. I know he does not agree with a lot of June's methods but he is associated with the current group.

Larry Coker has worked wonders at UTSA considering they have only been playing football for a few years. That would equate to world beaters imo. Spavtial would be my second choice and Rhett Lashlee third. SMU is probably going to be fighting Houston for Coker or Spavital (which ever one Houston goes for).

SMU doesn't need an expensive head coach. They need a young enthusiastic one. Y'all should hire a high school coach. Someone like Kenny Perry formerly of Arlington Bowie.

I would tap the brakes on Coker. I think he has done a fantastic job obviously, but UTSA has 35+ seniors, and they are in for a big drop off - plus we need someone younger to hang with us for a bit.

Old guy taking program from nothing and doing well vs poor competition - haven't we seen that movie already?
