Plus a head start on every other team. Plenty of time to make a great hire.

I don't know anything about Spavital, but I do know about Montgomery. If we're going with a bright, young coordinator with Texas ties, he'd be a great choice.

‏@footballscoop 10m

Chad Morris will deny it until offered to him but he would love to be the next head coach at SMU. Plenty of Mustangs would love that too

I am going to reach out to Chris Brown @ Grantland to see if he'd be willing to do a quick write-up on potential coordinators. He prob doesn't respond, but it can't hurt.

Realistic List - 1. Mike Singletary , 2. Raheem Morris (Old Tampa Coach) 3. Lane Kiffin 4. Phil Bennett (seriously, I think he could make it work this time with the changes made since his departure. George Steinbrenner fired and rehired the same manager several times).

Would love to hear your thought process behind each person?

Mike and Morris are two completely opposite coaches.

49ers hated Singletary's disciplinary style and the inmates ran the asylum in Tampa. Hell Bill Simmons, coined to the term WORM (like WAR) (wins over raheem morris).

Singletary and Morris. NFL guys usually don't go to become college coaches...
