Recruiter extraordianare from cajun land. Was recruiter of the year a couple of places. Was HC at ole miss and got let go. Went back to usc. Was interim coach after kiffin was let go. Wanted that job bad

... and was so respected in the coaching ranks that NOBODY offered him a job this past off season.

He was chasing HC jobs (FAU & WF) this offseason. Don't know if he pursued any DC or DL jobs.

Great Recruiter AND Head Coach. He can hire the offensive and defensive minds that he needs to excel. SMU is woefully lacking in talent. Recruiting should be number 1, 2, and 3 in terms of priority.

Well loved in Mississippi (NOT). Orgeron had half a season of success at USC. He is a good coach and motivator when he has superior talent. Probably a better a fit for a larger program.

And as for "face of the program". Who cares as long as we win?

I work with hardcore Ole Miss fans, the kind with condos in Oxford and a tent in The Grove. They HATED Coach O. Friends who attended the Egg Bowl told me everyone left happy -- Miss State fans because they won, Ole Miss fans because they would be rid of Orgeron at last.

His recruiting classes looked good on paper, but a number of recruits never showed up on campus and, if they did, didn't stay. Seems he went after recruits with "issues." Try that at SMU.

Before the Miss State game, 20 players were put on probation for stealing clock radios and pillows(?) from hotels.

And Ditto to comments on his public speaking skills, he doesn't have any."
