Re: Search committeeI heard we were using Beaudine again, for what it's worth. I was surprised to hear that as well but hey we do what we do

Re: Search committeeHow about Ed Gennero and Wally Riggendorf?
Re: Search committeeBeaudine is an SMU grad. His firm brought Briles to Baylor, Graham to ASU, Chris Del Conte TCU AD, Justin Fuente to Memphis, and several other top ADs and Head Coaches
This is the firm we want leading the search to get our next head coach here.
Re: Search committeeThese guys.
![]() I hear they're very persuasive negotiators.
Re: Search committee
In case you do not know he also was responsible for getting Jones to ASU which of course crumbled before consummation. I would think conflict of interest would come into play at some point in time, but maybe not. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Search committee
My take on these search firms is that if you're using them to put together your list or find you your coach, you've already screwed up the search. Any good AD keeps an updated list of 10-15 names of potential football and basketball coaches in his top desk drawer at all times. What a search firm can do is make it easier to use back channels to gauge interest from names on that list. How many of us get emails or messages from headhunters on LinkedIn asking if we might be interested in an open position in our field? That's what the search firm can do for us - reach out to a coach's agent and say "I'm representing a school with an opening and wanted to know if your client would be interested. Get back with me in a few days after you talk with him." By going through a search firm, the coach can say "No, I haven't had any contact with SMU about their job." because, officially, he and his agent have only talked about our job in vague terms... everyone knows they're talking about the SMU job but everyone can deny that they've talked directly about it. So, the search firm eases the process a bit and, frankly, lets us save face a little bit when 5 of the top 7 on the list laugh and say "Hell no.".. and that's going to happen some if we go after coaches that are worth hiring.
Re: Search committee
I agree, but also he did get Baylor the right coach. June seemed right for us at the moment...right up to the ASU fiasco.
Re: Search committeeSMU should consider asking June Jones to serve on the search committee. He could point out some deficiencies in the program so that the next coach will be prepared.
Re: Search committeeDoes the WDNWHA committee work with the search committee or does the search committee present the final recommendations to the WDNWHA for approval?
You'll have to forgive my ignorance on this subject, I don't really follow sports much.
Re: Search committeeThis is the first time the WDNWHA Committee has gotten involved with a coaching search. We do not work with anyone else. We are independent and unquestionable.

I have trouble with someone who helps me select a coach and then keeps shopping him elsewhere. That is just me. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
