Anyone remember what June always said about Hawaii? They didn't give him the tools he needed. Is always the same with people who fail. They want to blame someone else.

Anyone who says June didn't get what he needed from the administration is just not paying attention. I still run into people (like this week) who said too bad SMU cant compete due to the academic situation. I now ask them - do you think Larry is recruiting Rhodes scholars? That is no longer the issue. Will it be something to manage forever? - Yes - we are an academic school - but so are many others who are successful at sports. At Stanford, Vanderbilt, NWestern, Duke they don't see either or - they say both.

The administration of SMU is not the problem. If you say it is you have to back it up with some facts - and that is impossible. They gave June everything he needed - he just didn't want to work.

What kind of help from the upper managment of the school did Coach Jones not get? Inquiring minds would love to know. Too small of meeting rooms keep atheletes from wanting to come to SMU? Lack of an IPF? Was the $2 million the head coach received in salary a mistake? Should it have been allocated to the facilities? Or, could ED just a write a check and make everything better? Anybody can talk. You are talking ED, let's see what ya got. Let us all take this journey together.

Dickerson certainly dropped some bombs yesterday, but I don't fault him for that. If I were in his shoes would I have blasted SMU publically like that?. . . probably not b/c that's not my style. But Eric wouldn't have said those things if he didn't care. Dickerson loves SMU and is passionate about SMU football. He's also friends with June and helped get June to SMU, so I'm sure this stings him personally.

But if SMU actually gets it right this time and we have a winning product on the field in the next few years, I guarantee you that Eric will be our number 1 cheerleader (well. . .maybe number 2. tough to beat McIlhenny's loyalty).

Did anyone listen to the very end of the radio interview ED did the other day? He gave the interview to plug a speaking engagement at SMU. Typical SMU, we are bringing in a speaker who bashes SMU. The only way this gets better is if he can have Dale Hanson introduce him.

The ironic twist: ED is on the radio talking about SMU, plugging his speaking engagement at SMU and all the while complaining that SMU ignores him. You cannot make this sh$t up

Seems crazy to me that someone whose actions brought about the DP is now preaching about what SMU ought to do. He is among those responsible for the situation right now, years later.

This guy and his ego seem very similar to Deion Sr. I'm surprised we haven't heard Deion out in the media complaining and making excuses for his good friend June?

Except the person who quotes his interview there and puts and article about it on the ESPN front page...

Thank you Eric Dickerson, you're doing more harm to SMU's recruiting than a blowout loss to UNT could ever achieve. Please, keep telling recruits not to visit SMU.

Recalling one of the reasons publicly stated as a reason June came to SMU was him talking with Dickerson about the SMU job and the good things ED said about SMU. I am thinking he is trying to deflect criticism from himself for recommending June and then him getting fired. Over reacting

You guys do realize that no recruit ever saw Dickerson play, and most likely have very little knowledge of him outside of Pony Excess, right? I don't think this will hurt recruiting or a coaching search. Outside of our little SMU bubble no one will care in about week. No one really cares now.

We know ED was good friends with June. June has obviously said enough to ED behind the scenes to really tick him off. ED was on campus constantly the first couple of years after JJ was hired, and then disappeared. Something happened that pissed June off enough to have him look at the ASU job and complain to the people around him about what the administration was doing.

It has to go beyond just an indoor practice facility and meeting rooms. If it doesn't then JJ is an idiot (I know, everyone is already there). My biggest concern is that if those issues aren't dealt with, the next coach is going to check in with June and turn us down because those issues aren't resolved.

Can someone arrange for a PonyFans or Mustang Club interview with Dickerson to find out exactly what those list of issues are, so that we can make sure to take care of what we need to fix and blow off the stuff that is just stupid? I'd love to peel back the magic curtain.

*note: not justifying what ED said, I am pissed about it too, and I am glad JJ is gone. I just want to make sure we do what it takes to make sure history doesn't repeat itself instead of sticking our head in the sand. And no, I don't want Mason as a head coach. And I am not related to any staff members.
