I am an oldie and a traditionalist but they look good to me.It is a red helmet which I love. Now if it were rainbow or oddly striped, etc. I might think differently but it is school color and I like that.

What I want to see them do is get one that changes like I believe Oregon had. Have it start red, change to blue as the sun goes down and then white when it is dark (any order would be fine). Someone get on that please.

The chrome helmets would have reflected the lights from the towers...

I'm a huge traditionalist and I think they're awesome. Should definitely be worn 1-2 times each year. Players and recruits will love them.

I didn't think of that but it's true. Recruiting tweets, a cool uniform change that the kids will like, hitting in practice, the most positive, uplifting email from our AD since email has existed, a positive spin about our football program from several media outlets and optimism from the group of 30. All in a week. Hmmmmm, indeed.

yes, at least they may show some spirit and fire... I like all the changes.

There wasn't anything worse than getting blown out and seeing June pace the sidelines ho hum.... It will be interesting to see Mason on the sidelines.

i think our team will put up a good fight and will go down in flames - but the right way. Fighting and representing all of us as SMU students, athletes and aggressive football players - not as zombies. I can watch that to the end, cheer them to the end, and look forward to the next BLVD, the next game, and next year with gusto.

And don't forget - we are serving beer. That makes us better than all these lame P-5 schools right there.

Is it just me or do these chrome helmets look very similar to smu1523's mock ups?

Maybe 'they' are reading and listing to the comments and suggestions on PF.

Would love to see the whole look.

Now that is a great shade of blue and would be a great look with the chrome helmets.
Hello Rick Hart. Hello Tom Mason. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I have a friend who works in the equipment room, and he told me last week that he spotted these.
After seeing them today, these look 1000x better than the description I got from him. :D

These are the best looking chrome helmets I have seen rolled out, although I am biased to anything that has a running 'Stang on it.

No, we do not have a chance Saturday or against TCU. This is for recruiting of future players to SMU.
