We gave up 43 to UNT. That's just as bad.

I don't think we can answer the OP's question. The 1st two games were June's. Today we played one of the best, if not the best, teams in the country. I think A&M will be the SEC representative in the platoffs. June may be gone, but his offense is not. I don't know about you guys, but I didn't expect as opposed to hope anything different today. Well that is not totally true, I didn't think our best QB would be a walk on. Anyway not much can change in less than two weeks.

And this team is no were near as bad as some Caven and Bennett teams.

Did any of the Bennet or Cavan teams average 4 points a game three games into the season?

No, none of the Bennet or Cavan teams averaged 4 points (or less) per game three games into the season.

Compared to this year, SMU averaged less points per game three games into the season only in the following years: 1916, 1921, 1932, 1960.

The negative point differential margin three games into this season (12 vs. 146 = 134 negative point differential) has been exceeded only once in SMU’s history (1916).

the way they are playing right now, this team won't beat anyone on our schedule...but I agree with coach Mason, i.e., that we might have enough talent to compete with some AAC teams. Will be tough for these guys to gain any confidence before the Memphis game. I fully expect to be beaten badly the next 2 weeks but I'm going to remain hopeful this team show signs of life against Cincy and plays to it's potential against Memphis.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this team is better than the 1916 team. We lost to Rice 146 to 3 !

Both the 1987 and 1988 SMU teams, but we would need to rush for more than negative yards...
