Well a very reliable source - an Alumni Relations Spokesperson (gender unknown) - has reveled that the search has concluded. Even though our AD said they will take their time and use a search firm, they said to hell with that! We only needed 5 days. We already have our guy.

Just read in another thread where FA said Morris is coming. Wish he could keep his stories and personalities straight.

I think Morris is going to be Mason's OC.

You're right. I should have figured that out - makes perfect sense.

Great guy, hopefully the new regime gives him the opportunity to interview and possibly stay on staff if that's something he'd like to do.

I really like Coach Mason. He seems to genuinely care about SMU unlike June. His daughter graduated here while June's brat kid enrolled at Arkansas I think. Was talking to a friend at the game today about how somehow Coach Mason's defense always outplayed June's offense. I'll become a fan of any team he coaches in the future.

Sure, and you're the guy who posted earlier today that Gresham will probably never play a down of college football because of a neck injury. Have no idea what you're talking about so might be best if everyone just ignored what you 'hear', and think.

If Mason ultimately ends up staying as HC, my only expectation is that he and the staff he keeps/brings will do recruiting right, build relationships with local HS coaches and compete hard for all the top talent that tends to be sitting right in our own back yard and actually get some of 'em. Well, that and win with 'em, too.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

I think he's the best we could hope for at this point and represents this program well. I don't think anyone has any illusions for the rest of the year, however, I think the team will perform better under him than his predecessor. Its our job to go out, like Rick said, and support them. We're all used to watching a losing program, one more year shouldn't hurt us. I have faith in Rick to make the right hire so we should all look forward to next year.

Never said anything about Mason being the guy...said that they were very fond of him and he is in the running...sounded to me like he is ahead of many. Hopefully Saturday's debacle changed things.

On a personal level, I like Coach Mason. Whereas June appeared to be bothered by questions and expected recruits and fans to like and come to him, Mason understands the realities of our situation.

Regardless of the hiring process, I want someone who (1) Wants to be here, (2) is a recruiting fanatic and (3) loves interacting with the students, alumni and fans. Watching JJ be interviewed was painful. I don't know if it was arrogance or not, but his aloofness didn't work for him or us.

Love the game, love the players and love SMU. The KISS Method. 8)

They are very fond of him and made it sound like he was the man. I talked about other candidates but they would circle back to Mason being great..bla bla

Why didn't you say that in the first place. Maybe cause you are a troll.
