Last tweet from FootballScoop before moving on to discuss Kansas & Michigan jobs:

Re SMU I have said all along that I think Chad Morris will be the next head coach. Nothing I have heard since then has changed my mind.

Applewhite, Heupel, Nutt, Tuberville.......come on guys, not a chance.

If Morris & Herman have real interest the list can end there.

So if Baylor goes undefeated and makes the playoffs-you wouldn't want to interview Montgomery who is the play caller for Baylor?

Sure, interview him & Riley as well. Just throwing around the names related to the FootballScoop.....scoop.

If Morris is seriously interested, and doesn't totally blow the interview he would seem to be the guy. Not claiming to be an expert, my initial impression is names like Herman/Montgomery/Riley would all seem to be a close second depending on their interviews.

Hey, there is a lot of criticism down in Clemson country that Morris is an arrogant SOB and his offense fizzles against top competition. Who knows.

Hopefully Hart and his committees take a hard look at everything from scheme, to leadership, to charisma, to temperament, to vision, etc, etc, and come to the right decision.
Going to take a lot of skill and a little bit of luck to come up with the next Briles or Patterson.

Hart has a big job and a lot of pressure. As someone who is intimately affected by his decision, I only hope he is up to the task.

So, anyone have any actual interaction at any level deeper than topical with this process? I ask because, as stated coherently and explicitly, Hart knows there are many close to the program that have questioned the actions of the administration and AD in past searches. Issues regarding JJ involving recruiting, organization, community involvement, student body involvement and interaction, etc. have been noted by many here.

Seems much of what Hart references in this directly correlates to the myriad of issues many have had with the program and JJ over the past several years, and beyond. I have no info, but I would harbor more than a precautionary guess that this letter was not written in a void. Hart knows he is playing for a wide audience and is acting accordingly. After all...this is a press release.

I'm just happy there is a sign that we have a plan. Multiple committees don't scare me when the people represented seem to overlap on them. We have a plan. We are organized. Most importantly...we have a real AD. Why, because not only is this a polished product...it is proof that he is in charge and is acting in the best interests of the entire department. He mentions practically every sport, and key components of new growth in several smaller sports...then ties it all together by expressing the importance of all programs, and how the growth and strengthening of the football program will help all sports.

"When PonyFans first told me about new AD Rick Hart I had one thing to say: "The guy from those God-awful emails?" "I believe in Rick Hart." Yeah, nice slogan, Rick. But it caught PonyFans attention. And then I started to pay attention to Hart and all that he's been doing as our new AD. And you know what? I believe in Rick Hart. I believe that on his watch, SMU can feel a little safer, a little more optimistic. Look at this face. This is the face of SMU's bright future."

With regard to the head coach search, we have made significant progress to develop a framework to guide the process. In order to take advantage of the time available to us, we have adapted our traditional approach to maximize inclusivity and expand opportunities to gather input from the SMU community.

That would be nice.

Using analytics in hiring a football coach? This could be interesting!

I like Hart.

and I am really looking forward to the new tennis facility. I have not been to a match since our great tennis teams of the 80's, but am
definitely coming back.

Is there a moat around that place?
