Intra-SEC matchups didn't help them today, but really it was the ACC that devoured the SEC today with Clemson>South Carolina, FSU>Florida, Louisville>Kentucky, and Georgia Tech>Georgia. SEC homers rightly point out those are all SEC East teams, but which exactly are the signature SEC West OOC wins that justify them being regarded as the best division in the history of college football?
C'mon, I know you're an ACC homer, but that's ridiculous. Two of those wins were by the best two teams in the ACC against down SEC programs. Kentucky is terrible. Only one that was unexpected was Georgia. How about you match Bama against Duke, LSU against B College, Mizzou against Wake, etc.? Even in a down year the SEC is the best top to bottom football conference. ACC is number 5 and it isn't even close.

Well, for starters they are undeafeted in OOC play - by my count that is 28-0. I don't care who they play - and that has included wins against the Big Ten division champ Wisconsin and other strong teams like Kansas State, West Virginia, Boise State - that's an impressive record.
But I'll be honest with you - Missouri is a tough match-up for Alabama. Missouri has a lot of speed, and those 270 lb. LB's at Bama may have a tough time with the Tigers.

Well, the SEC West went 3-0 in non-conference games against teams in the playoff committee's top 25. The ACC (whole conference), on the other hand, looks to have only played 2 non-conference games against a team currently ranked int he committee's top 25... both games were against Georgia and the ACC went 1-1 in those 2 games.

The ACC had a great weekend against their SEC rivals and that certainly helps boost FSU's seeding, assuming they get past Ga Tech. The SEC doesn't typically play a very strong non-conference schedule, but as others have pointed out, they do have some impressive wins including LSU over Wisconsin, Auburn over Kansas State & Georgia over Clemson. I suppose, if you consider Baylor couldn't handle West Virginia and TCU just snuck by them, Bama's relatively easy win over the Mountaineers should be considered a good one. Ole Miss easily handled Boise State and Memphis, 2 of the better G5 schools. Hard to argue against the SEC west being the strongest division in college football, but the PAC 12 south might disagree. Meanwhile, those who think FSU skates to an easy unbeated season in the ACC should consider they beat Clemson, Louisville and non-conference foes Notre Dame, Okie State & Florida. That's no "patsy" schedule.

I do not know what the best conference is but I am pretty certain that the SEC West is good enough to rate one team in the playoff. But had Auburn won last night, or if Missouri wins next week, the SEC will not be represented. That is the breaks for having a very good division. Probably should add SMU to the SEC West to hell them out some.

You nearly got beat by KU a couple weeks back. Following your logic you don't even belong in the discussion.

Oregon would get run off the field by Bama, Auburn, and probably Ole Miss. They might give State a game

Please! The vaunted SEC went o-fer against the ACC yesterday. Bama, Oregon, Frogs, and FSU deserve the top 4 spots right now.

Ha, UK (who is horrible) took a ranked Louisville team down to the wire. Georgia blew it against a good, ranked Ga. Tech team. That was a good win for ACC Florida with a lame duck coach gave #3 FSU all they wanted in Tallahassee SC blows this year

Losing is losing. Without tools like Finebumm out there touting them 24/7, people would realize how overrated they are.
