My sense of JJ was that he had no relationships with the SMU student body, faculty, city of Dallas or anything Texas. He should have been a spokesman for the university and never accepted that role. His involvement outside football was his charity, some inner city charity and any mandatory media obligations. In my opinion JJ really failed the university on many fronts in stark contrast to the likes of Mack Brown and those other coaches who really stand up and represent their university. It will be interesting to watch Morris and see if he can mend years of broken fences, failed relationships and positive visibility.
