I think Morris can be our TCU/Patterson equivalent.
It is minutely possible there is additional realignment and SMU gets picked up in the shuffle. If we end up in a 'Powder Conference" (yes I said Powder and not Power because it is all smoke and mirrors really) then I think he stays. He wants to be in Texas, period. What is arguably the best city in Texas. Dallas. As a Dallas native I know this to be true.
The only upward progression is to A&M, UT and maybe Bro-tech. Those are not opening anytime soon. If SMU treats football with respect and growing desire then Morris will be happy and successful.
He makes his mark and SMU is a power football team going "toe to toe" with all our former SWC rivals. Morris stays for a long time ala Patterson.

Battered Wife Syndrome. Asking how long a coach will be here less than a full day on campus.
Some of you are amazing.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Take the same route, get SMU into P5, get paid, stick around till his early 60's, retire a Dallas Texas SMU hero.
Why not?
Completely agree. He's a family guy. Make SMU his extended family, pay him P5 money, and show SMU is dead serious about becoming P5.
Pony up!

Agreed with you until you said "what is arguably the best city in Texas, Dallas". You apparently haven't checked out Little Elm lately.

Little elm. Please.
This is the stupidest most defeatist thread in the history of threads. Someone jettison this thing.

Well this is a good indicator of long term stability... guessing the buyout is hefty.
Bill Nichols @BillNicholsDMN SMU president R Gerald Turner said Chad Morris was signed to 6-year deal "to give him stability" and to show "this is a long-range program"

You are full of [deleted]. There is nothing CM has done to earn that [deleted] comparison.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

You don't think CM is good enough to turn us around in three years and get a job a CFB blueblood like Bama?
