I don't think so. I just think he is a magical thinker who buys into people, and not a rational thinker who buys into actions and results. Different type of person

He's the product of a first-rate brainwashing. It takes a lot to undo that kind of damage.

Something else there. Sterling has been back. E Sanders has been back. GG has been back. There were several football players under June that were at the recruiting event this year. So, brainwashing is probably not the issue, otherwise none of the ex players would be actively involved.

I would expect Beasley to have some positive feelings about Jones because he helped him get to the pros. That's a blind assumption. I do not know how much Jones did, but I assume Beasley has some level of gratitude at least for the move from college to pros.

I once was grateful to a man who got me a job with his S&L. He then proceeded to do many illegal activities and subsequently the institution failed and I was without work during a down economy. Eventually I got work based on my ability and experience, including my time with his company. I am very happy this person is now in prison and I hold no loyalty to him. Attitudes can change all the time.

Beasley took a steamer on SMU on social media and then proceeded to do more when teammates told him to chill. He has never apologized and re-canted. He has no gratitude for the fan support he received at SMU, so I suggest we stop giving it until he changes heart.

I hear you SMUer. I hope Coach Morris will change the atmosphere around here and Mr. Beasley gets with the program and becomes a believer.

In a tangible sense, yes. In the sense that this is now a much more attractive job, yes he did much more good than harm. All he did was add a few more years of suck to the generation. In the grand scheme, it wasn't that big of a deal.

I don't think ponyboy is wrong in his assertion that without June Jones SMU probably wouldn't be in as good of a position as it is today. Those bowl appearances, minor or not was enough to get SMU bumped up to the Big East. Without that on field performance we'd be sitting around looking like Rice. The Big East enthusiasm then led to Larry Brown which lead to multiple years of top-25 basketball which has us in the national basketball discussion. June Jones is a lot of things, but if we crap on him we should at least be able to recognize the good he did do. Had he not ASU'd the SMU situation and/or had SMU fans backed up the team after starting 5-1 and butt spanking UCF then I think the story might have been a little different. Regardless I'm glad we have Chad now.

How can you blame the fans at all? 5-1 so what. If that was a 12-1 year then maybe you could start expecting am increase for that 2012 season but the team [deleted] the bed and went to another crappy bowl.

Because they were 5-1 and just demolished the previous year's conference champs and all the team had to show for it was a 1/5 full stadium. Multiple players and June made note of how discouraging that was. It clearly killed momentum and is one of the reasons I think they showed up so flat against USM. USM wasn't that much better than us. If you want to hold June accountable for his awful recruiting and lackadaisical approach that put us in a hole, that's fine. But accountability goes to everyone - fans, administration, players. etc. For what it's worth I had tickets to that game but decided not to go for some BS reason. I'm to blame too.
