Tcu and Baylor have real deal speed. I pray we can get 1 of those dudes someday again.
What was his time in 2010?

i think most sane people would agree that a track team would help. I think most people believe given our situation it isn't going to happen, and it is not a requirement. If anything Morris is showing us that is the case. No sense [deleted] about track until we are in a p-5 - it is not going to happen any other way.

http://parser.dyestat.com/search.jsp?athID=90011Not trying to be a downer, I just wish we could have just one dude with near-Deion Sr. speed...even if he's not that good at football I like guys that can burn.

I like guys that can burn too. I do think Coach Morris is upgrading the teams speed. And he is doing it without a track team. Just hard work by the staff.

Track team would be nice to attract burners. If SMU has major conference aspirations, you should have a baseball team.

Baseball is a dying sport. Lacrosse is where it's at

I dont really like either sport, but lacrosse would fit SMU's profile much better than baseball

But back to the subject of the current team speed I do not remember the team having this many sub 4.5 guys. Not that we are a fast team but it lools like we have picked up speed in this class.

I know what outsiders think our profile is, I'm curious what is your SMU profile?

Gag, keep that soft-a** northeastern sport where it belongs. We must have a men's track team again...gotta be a way to add something on the women's sports side that doesn't cost us too much (Women's Field Hockey). Baseball I would love to see back at SMU, but agree that it won't happen unless we are making a lot more money through whatever league we are in, P5 or Best of the Rest.

Just like I think we need to land two solid 6'4", 300 lb DTs in EVERY class, we need to land three to four sub 4.5 guys EVERY class (if we can get someone in that 4.35-4.4 range, even better) . Just a general requirement . . . EVERY class regardless of "need" . . .

Not to bag on Lacrosse, it has its niche. That being said, it would be a waste to apply any effort to it beyond a club sport. Track and baseball should be our emphasis for new sports. Also, not that it would cure everything, but it is time for Title IX to be amended somehow.
