Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growingOur best hope is the conference has a steady climb to success and the teams in it try to build a solid fan base. We try to renegotiate the tv contracts to where we hopefully will break even before thinking about jumping ship. Hopefully HCCM can get us on track ahead of schedule and nobody tries to pick him off. However if USC picks him then I'm joining the doom and gloom squad.
Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growing
Not a "fact" in the sense that nobody knows for a "fact" that any coach is going to leave right now. That said, yeah, your AD better be putting together his short list because, Philly guy or not, if your guy is a true competitor he wants a chance to compete for a national title and, like it or not, no AAC team is getting into the playoff any time soon.

Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growingThe AAC is by far and away the best G5 conference. Memphis, Temple, Cincy, Houston, Navy, and ECU have all shown this season that they are on the same level of a mid-tier team in a P5 conference.
With the commitment of every school in the conference to paying cost of living stipends, one wonders how the teams in the P5 can get away with colluding to keep the conference from becoming a 6th power conference when the conference teams are clearly committed financially to competing at the highest level in both football and basketball.
Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growingThey can because the stipends are about all the schools are committed to together.
Any one of them would go running in a second if an invite came from a P5 conference. We better hope that doesn't happen anytime soon.... Our only real option is making this conference better.
Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growing
It sure looks that way so far JasonB....good job by the AAC teams. Memphis and their crowd are impressive today in the 1st half vs. Ole Miss.
Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growing
I think that is the only real option for all American schools. We ain't going anywhere in a whiiiile.
Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growing
Since you won't win a NC at SMU (without cheating), why don't you just drop football?
Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growing
Most schools don't win the national championship so they should all drop football then? Leader of the Band-itos.

Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growingI do not believe Temple has won very many football NCs. Guess they drop football for sure.

Re: The "what-if" - AAC respect growingTemple has won two bowl games in school history - The New Mexico Bowl on 2011 and the Garden State Bowl in 1979.
