Not going to call out anyone but what this team needs is a reality check. I want every person to be all they can be but a TON of the guys on this team should not have their scholarships renewed.

Play with 50-60 guys that can play D-1 and let the rest move on to where they can do what they need to do.

Yep I've been preaching this. Save the school some money and dump the crap. They will find their way and only keep those who work hard and should be in D1. Might sound harsh to the bleeding hearts but its called cleaning house for a reason.

Gee I can't believe SMU cut the guy nobody else thought was good enough to play in college. I'll never send a kid who is not good enough for college to SMU again!!!

Coaches aren't idiots. They know when players can't play.

When you commit to a kid, you commit to a kid. Coaches definitely don't like it.

good points but remember this stat... I bet most are not from Texas and the long distance relationship with coach was not what got the kid here, Most - not all - are last minute phone signees from signing day.

My belief is the local, TEXAS coaches would see this a making room for their guys. Quality guys.

The one that shall not be named cost us 6 million for wages paid while not working and ??? for bogus recruiting.

Support Chad and Staff.

Agreed, making room for those who are talented to get 4 good years of playing time that alot of colleges cant offer. I agree, I believe HCCM knows who is good and who isnt, I just dont want him getting a soft heart and feel it would be "morally wrong." I think if he cut all the D-2/D-3 players on the list and made known that they weren't performing, it would be hard to get bad PR from that.

I have no problem cutting the guys that are not D1 capable or willing and there will be PR backlash, but the backlash can be minimized by the school offering those cut non athletic scholarships. In other words those kids who came here in good faith thinking they could play at this level and get an education, could continue to get the education.

there are only so many guy you can offer each year. Let's just trust that coach Morris will manage his roster to "right this ship" as soon as he possibly can
