Re: Mike Rawlings calls for Big XII to add SMU
Thats pretty cool but it almost sounds like its too little too late. Everyone keeps saying BYU, Cinci, Houston, Memphis done deal (maybe next week right? ![]()
Re: Mike Rawlings calls for Big XII to add SMUMy money is they only take two - no inside info
Re: Mike Rawlings calls for Big XII to add SMUI think either the big12 adds 4 and it will be strictly a money grab. Basically telling the 4 that you don't get any of the money (except BYU), and the 10 current will split the 80 million or so new money each year. OR
ESPN/fox gives each of the 10 like $2 million more a year not to expand so they don't expand at all

Re: Mike Rawlings calls for Big XII to add SMU
OR, ESPN forces a restructuring of the contract. Tier 1 - OU and UT - mega bucks. Tier 2 - the rest of the current crop- decent money. Tier 3 - the new crew - basically none. Your top option sounds logical, but it only happens if there is a threat of another conference taking other big 12 schools away right now. I don't think expansion is immediately on the horizon for any of the other conferences outside of the Pac 12, and the only school in the Big 12 outside of UT and OU that would work is TCU because of access to a major airport. I think a renegotiation is more likely, and if schools don't accept it, UT and OU go to the Pac 12.
Re: Mike Rawlings calls for Big XII to add SMU
If that scenario plays out Houston and SMU should be no-brainers as they lock up Texas from other conferences.
Re: Mike Rawlings calls for Big XII to add SMUI don't think what the TV companies want actually matters. They can cry all they want but that's the way their contract is written. I say 4 and Houston is a lock. Going to sucked to be passed up by Baylor, then TCU, and now Houston. 5% chance for us.
