Re: Questions about Liberty? Our QB sat all of last year behind a 4-year starter who has bounced around NFL camps. He led us to a playoff victory two years ago against ... wait for it ... Vad Lee & JMU. Back then he was a run first QB with serious accuracy issues. Through two games this season, we have primarily kept him in the pocket. The dude is a great athlete and really is dangerous in open space.
Our offense line has been banged up but it looks like all of our starters will be a go this week. We had major false start issues at Virginia Tech. Hopefully that is a thing of the past. As for Rashad, I would never count on that Giant O-Line. But I suspect I don't have to tell a bunch of Cowboy fans that piece of intel.
Re: Questions about Liberty?
Sunbelt quality you mean? Your facilities look like what other schools in the Sunbelt have, not the AAC.
Re: Questions about Liberty? Are you surprised that America still exists one year after the SC legalized gay marriage?
Re: Questions about Liberty?
My guess is that the stadium noise of Ford will not cause as many false starts for you guys as vs. VA Tech last week...Of course, the Sorority girls in white sundresses could be more distracting though (assuming they choose to enter the stadium). I had good luck with Pitt TE Eric Green in my lineup back in the early 90s though... "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: Questions about Liberty?
The false starts weren't due to stadium noise.
Re: Questions about Liberty?
************************************************************************************************ Facilities would need major upgrade to be at AAC level...especially considering fact that SMU's Ford Stadium is among the smallest in the AAC https://www.liberty.edu/flames/index.cf ... 4&TeamID=9

Re: Questions about Liberty?
No, I mean AAC quality outside of our smallish football stadium. We compare favorably to Temple, Tulane & Tulsa. And almost all of our facilities are new or nearly new as part of nearly a billion dollars in construction projects we have either just completed or are building right now over in Lynchburg. Financially we are one of the healthiest colleges in America and the facilities we are building are one of the most visible results. Our athletic budget exceeds pretty much every school in the Sun Belt and most of C-USA. None of which has helped us get that elusive FBS invitation. It could be argued all that I mentioned above is a primary reason the Sun Belt doesn't want us at their table.
No argument whatsoever about us in regard to football. We make no claims to be AAC ready from a football standpoint. Now Sun Belt, MAC and CUSA are different stories. I was referring to our overall athletic facilities. Once our new indoor football practice facility, indoor track & field complex, natatorium and basketball training centers are completed in the next few months we will be ready and waiting to break ground on our football stadium expansion and smaller hoops arena that we have ready to roll next.
I agree completely. That was a matter of a slew of new guys being a bit overwhelmed by the situation. We can only hope that doesn't pop back up again on Saturday.
I'm not quite sure what to expect from Liberty in the crowd. This is the first time in a quarter century that we have playd a game in the Lone Star State. But we have a ton of alumni in Texas and even a small satellite campus in Dallas. Since a significant portion of our roster comes from Texas I suspect we will have a decent number of folks show up who may never see another Liberty game in person outside of the season opener next year at Baylor. We have a great home atmosphere for an FCS school. We draw around 18k even though it was a tad less last Saturday in Lynchburg. But I doubt many of those folks will make the journey to Dallas even though it is a really cheap flight.
I had classes with Eric back in the day and he was alway a riot. He put together a rather nice NFL career between his Pro Bowl days with the Steelers and then a nice run with the Ravens.
No surprise at all. God bless America.
Re: Questions about Liberty?
While Jmu was a good team, the game last year was flopped heavily in their favor by the fact that smu had a horrendous defense that any qb that ran a 4.7 could pile on 85+ on the ground. This years team would beat last year's Jmu by a few possessions.
Re: Questions about Liberty?I agree wholeheartedly. JMU caught you guys at the right place and right time. We understand completely that we have to ball out and have some things fall our way to knock you guys off.
Re: Questions about Liberty? From what it looks like JMU was faster than Liberty so it may not be as tough of a game but still SMU has to be prepared.

Re: Questions about Liberty?
Coming off TCU is a tough place to be. Highly emotional rivalry game and a nice skillet in play every year plus frog legs. You should come to that game if you're a DFW local. Well worth it.
