K Smith LT, Pursley RT with Natour and Webb as backups.
I don't think I would put Hyder over Seanna at this point. Saenna and McCarty are the incumbants but both are pushed hard by redshirts.

Ah, I forgot all about Saena - thought he was a senior. Ok, yeah, I see him starting at guard (I'm not sure if K Smith is a tackle). And McCarty has always seemed very soft to me. I think he gets buried in the depth chart if Smith and Todora are the real deal (and Barton).

McCarty is a senior. This is it for him. Bag on him all you want but he is missed in there. Helps a lot to stabilize the front if he is back for Tulsa. Think about him as a bridge to the future.

Anyone know when Keaton Bales will be back this year from his injury? While some would probably want to redshirt Alan Ali next year he may push for playing time or even start. Also Searcy could start if he plays well in the Spring.

You can argue all day long on how are 2-3 deep will look next year, but the simple fact is that it will be better than the current situation. As we all know, June left a roster that was bereft of talent at virtually every position and in particular the OL. Furthermore, the "mix" of scholarships to roster spots was simply a mess.
Right now, we can see the benefits of Morris' recruiting as there are players 3-4 deep fighting for playing time based upon their ability to out play the other guy. Although not as deep, the DB and WR positions are full of young, fast guys fighting for PT based upon the concept that they have to outplay the "other guy."
The problems on offense can be traced directly to the lack of depth left behind by Junesus. Unfortunately, the offense suffered a rash of injuries at positions with the least competition for PT - QB and OL.
Next year, that will be different.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

A couple of things, Thomas has been hurt (shoulder), no way he plays this year. Also, won't be surprised to see Brewer (Cade, not Charlie) in the mix for playing time at tight end as a true freshman. Kid has size, runs excellent routes and can catch anything. Perfect security blanket for the QB.

Wyatt isn't a clear lock at one CB position next year? I haven't been reading up much online of late, but watching games that guy looks solid to me.

ojaipony wrote:I don't know if anyone will bite, and of course this year is far from over, but I need something to get excited about so I'm starting this thread. And next year I think I will be for this football team (and, yes, I've been here since before the DP and I know it's always "next year" but I really do believe it this time).
Now, having said all that, what's your depth chart look like next year? Here's mine (just for fun):
QB1: Matt Davis (if gets medical RS) QB2: Peavey (if Matt doesn't RS, hes #1) QB3: Hicks (will be a solid back up after all the experience this year) Brewer redshirts, Colbert maybe transfers out or is 4th depending on injuries, etc.
RB1: X Jones RB2: West RB3: Freeman RB4: Thomas (kid is going to be a stud, I say he may even supplant West at #2 but Freeman has been a huge surprise so maybe he could move up to #2 . . HCCM will have them all play and be in heavy rotation so it doesn't really matter all that much who is 1-3), Medlock redshirts, Carmouche moves to LB (but maybe not, I hope so though need him there if he's any good and playing RB will help him be a better LB).
LT: Ali (should redshirt but just too good)/not sure who the back up here will be, maybe Richards? LG: Kadarius Smith/McCarty/Barton C: Brown/Hyder/Barton RG: Saena/Todora/Hyder RT: Pursley/Webb? TE: Rau/Becker
LBs: Spears, Rhone, J. Ward, Carmouche, after that I have no idea but I really hope Spears can bring it next year and be a stud for us (has the size and looks great on paper as does J Ward and Carmouche) FS: Clemons/M. Ward SS: Onu (will really miss Millines)/not sure who the back up will be here CB: Wyatt/Sutton CB: Davis/K Johnson (will really miss Horace, who I always thought was solid if he could just stay healthy, it's a shame he couldn't give us 2-3 full healthy seasons). Will redshirt most other CB freshmen (I hope - guys like Robinson have some major wheels, hope the offseason for Sutton helps him get ready for a solid season).
DE: Lawler, Scott, Jarvis, Badejo puts on a little more muscle and moved to DE more as a stand up type like this year(Michael will bulk up enough to actually play most downs), Ndukwe will redshirt and will ultimately be a stud. DTs: McLaurin (needs to get his body right in offseason and spring/summer), TJ Williams (will get his body right), Gary (will bulk up a little and move inside), Gentry, P. Jones (we will miss Green and Minor). Loveless and N. Jones will redshirt (although N. Jones and Loveless might be ready to go and used in a pinch possibly).
What do ya'll think? Thanks for humoring me.
I'll take that one year from now

We really need linebackers next year. I have not kept up with what we have in the wings but we need a lot of help there.

Let's hope Santa Claus comes early for Thanksgiving and drops Anthony Hines III in our laps. Would be the biggest coup of college football history. Better than Marcus Moseley.
