Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not bagood points
I'm not discouraged at all. There is simply as mismatch between the fans reasonable expectations for a young, inexperienced, injury riddled team and the capabilities and talent of the players attempting to get it done 2017 "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not baHave to agree. The team responded after the lackluster performance at Temple. We are exactly where a lot of folks predicted we would be and given the extent of the injuries I'm not sure why so many are freaking out.
That said we failed to steal a win on the road as a once great coach would say. Ultimately there are lots of bright spots all over the field and we will only get better both for the rest of the season and definitely next year. Love me some Wyatt and Millines. Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not baStallion and Treadway,
Again, how do you explain why Morris has the ball down 3, 3td and 10 at the Tulsa 14 with :25 remaining and he runs the ball. You can't ask for a better opportunity to win the game and he runs, obviously playing for OT where, if we are lucky we'll have the same opportunity to win the game. It makes no sense. If we were the better team, I don't have a big problem with it but we were not. This comes after MANY questionable play calls in the last few games. Why do y'all give him a free pass? i'd love to hear your explanation. SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four

Maybe you forgot 2nd & 10 when Tulsa should have picked off Hicks or the fact that West was 1/4 step from scoring on the running play? - In the red zone, the DBs & LB don't have to worry about the deep ball and they flood the zones "underneath" looking for picks. - Clearly they have no faith in Hicks to throw the "safe" pass into the corner of the EZ. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not baNo I remember it perfectly. So you're saying because Hicks almost threw a pick you quit trying to score a TD?

Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not baThey were trying to minimize Hick's mistakes and I think we might be [deleted] about playing West when he was the only back available with Freeman hurt and Carmouche inexplicably missing last nite. Hopefully, Coach will clear that up in Press Conference but he rarely is very transparent on injuries. But let's not dismiss the failure of the offensive line. If you can't make 3rd and 1 you probably don't deserve to win. Do I wish we had a bigger, better RB for that situation-yes. Again, I question why Aphonso was redshirted. The least of my worries is Morris finding a replacement at RB for what would be Thomas' redshirt Senior year. Might have left a victory on the redshirt table last nite

Did we have this many injuries when Mel was the strength coach? Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not ba
For soft tissue injuries you can possibly look at the strength program. However, strength can't help taking a helmet to the knee or playstation injuries.
Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not ba
No. I am pointing out that our offense is not good at passing for TDs in the RZ. Forcing Hicks to throw into the EZ is a recipe for failure. Fact: West was 1/4 step from a TD. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not ba
Brown got injured when another OL fell down and essentially chop blocked him from behind while Brown was locked up with a defender. Total accident. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not baAm I being unrealistic to expect that, down 4pts on the road, starting at our own 35 yard line, with 5:27 left, with $2M offensive guru at the helm, we don't go 3-and-almost-out before pulling one of the worst punt fakes on 4th-and-one? If so, Chad Morris has less accountability than a weather-man.
Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not baSomeone was saying Thomas is hurt. I hope that's true since that would be about the only sane reason not to be using him at this point.
Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not baHe has had shoulder surgery and is out for the year.

Re: Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not baPut it simply: losing to anybody, anybody, by any amount of points, any amount, is bad. Is bad.
