Just like Morris said, TCU is built to stop the run. They have an excellent run defending DL. The Arkansas game was a perfect matchup for them.

They are missing a dominant DE, which will hurt them against passing teams.

That said, they were already prepping for OSU. They didn't build anything special in the defensive game plan for us other than doubling Sutton. I think that you will see a much better performance from them next weekend. Their OL will win the battle of the line of scrimmage as well against OSU and eat clock to keep OSU off the field.

Chad has so improved this Offense that by the time he fills the missing and most important piece of this puzzle, he will be gone.

My main point was that Gary thinks like a D coordinator when he gets emotional, so his pride and perception as a defensive guru is what is/was threatened by Chad. That's why he lashed out.

Hoop Fan nailed it. Patterson thinks he's the world's greatest defensive coordinator and he was embarrassed

Frog dude, i wasn't thrilled with our turnout but it was decent and you have no idea how many we had for one big reason and it's fairly classless. Tcu diffuses visiting fans by dispersing their tickets to all upper corners of stadium. Not even by our band either. Not even players parent tickets were in same section. Even Baylor gives visitors a lower section by our band. Other thing, you would have never drawn that kind of crowd for a 95 degree kick against Kansas or iowa state so you should thank the ponies, your fans and admin still have a plenty big chip on your shoulders. Truth.

Patterson is a winner plain and simple. He took over a program that was on par with what SMU is now and kicked a lot of [deleted].

His predecessor was the program changer. Gary has done a great job building on it and maintaining it, all the while being among the biggest jerks in football. Would we trade? No. We'll get there with a great man and coach, not a tool.

Fran had the good sense to hire Patterson as his DC and his predecessor recruited Tomlinson.

footballdad wrote:Not sure why everybody keeps acting like TCU has some great defense? They shut out powerhouse Jackson St., and held a terrible Arkansas team to 7 points......WOW! The Patterson defense has been falling off for years, and the defense we just witnessed looked pretty mediocre as well. What is supposedly so great about it? Average DE's, only 1 good LB, DB's falling for trick plays, and giving up 300 yards to 'can't hit the broad side of a barn' Ben Hicks!

Can only imagine what Okie St & Oklahoma are going to do to that 'great' defense.

for once I agree with you. I was not blown away by their D. I thought I was shocked tcu did not blitz more than they did maybe they wee holding back for Big 12 play. Based on what I saw yesterday, Okie Light will hang 50 or 60 on tcu

Holding back?? Oh man, Lemme ask you a rhetorical question. Everybody in the building knows they were double covering courtland with a safety over the top. If they also blitz a backer, what would/should happen next?

Good point. Still, I do not believe Gary has that much respect for SMU. If tcu somehow comes up with a stellar defensive performance next week. We will see

Nobody is gonna shut down okie state. Won't know until 3 or 4 more weeks how good everyone really is. I'd say tcu is third best team in the b12. That ain't bad. Are they perfect? Nope. That's why we gave up a Hail Mary, left a bunch of points on the field, and still we in the game early in fourth qtr. btw, I was very disappointed by that game yesterday, there was no moral victory in that crap whatsoever.

TCU's addition of Reagor and Snell make them a much better offense that I anticipated. Those guys are going to be a [deleted] for 4 years. Only a handful of kids in College Football with 10.4 speed. I thought he might just be a track star before the season but he made a bunch of big plays yesterday. They line him up at RB but then split him wide and its a total mismatch against any LB. He scored on that jet sweep before the ball was even in his hands. Speaking of which SMU hasn't used the jet sweep much this year which Chad has generally used a bunch.

"Should have been 80."

So if the tcu players were so much bigger and experienced and physical than SMU, I would have to assume that the 60 point "shortcoming" must only be because of their coaching???
