This actually plays out quite well for CM. Regardless, can’t imagine him staying.
To me, he is much like LB. They didn’t save our FB / BB programs, they simply confirmed a blueprint for success.
And while we are on the subject, I really like the fact that Jank doesn’t need to wh*re himself out to lowlifes like Baylor.
Chad lost me last year with the "baptist romance", and his "coach speak" gets old in a hurry. To me , Jank is as good a fit for SMU as we'll ever have and a very likeable guy !

I love how people who, would probably leave their current job for a 20 pct raise want to judge chad for thinking about doubling his salary, even though he turned it down.

Chad would KILL it recruiting at aggie and is the perfect hire, but I agree with others that think they are too stupid to know it. I have talked to aggies and they believe they can do much better.
Anyone that points to his won loss record at SMU as a reason not to hire him is clueless. He had to come in here and change a lazy island culture and inherited almost nothing. Chad Morris is going to win and win big as a college head coach, it just probably won't be here for much longer.

Agree. Heck, I made a lateral move 5 years ago because of job atmosphere which would probably be a good enough reason for Chad without a pay increase. I want to keep him but if he gets a better deal anywhere I will just be happy that it was because he did well with us.

Those who don't think a P5 program will take a G5 head coach with a barely over .500 record forget that P5 programs frequently hire Offensive Coordinators from National Championship caliber programs and may have forgotten Chad put Clemson's offense together and recruited Deshaun Watson

Tulane Game:
Chad looks around at the fans masquerading as empty seats. Then he checks his wallet.
The question is not what Chad wants. It all comes down to if A$M wants Chad.
And no, that’s not a typo.

tamu's problems for many years have mainly been on the defensive side of the ball. even the d coordinator from lsu couldn't straighten it out. the offense isn't a lot better. to me chad is a perfect fit there. he knows and loves the culture. he will recruit like mad.

If we lose Chad, we need to reload with another good coach that recruits Texas, and keep working on our known attendance and facility problems.

expecting that hccm will be gone after this season does anybody know if our illustrious AD has started warming up the phone lines looking for prospective replacements? I suspect hccm will take the cream of our recruits so we need to have a new coach lined up that can hit the ground running and load up with top level recruits.

I'm going to call BS to this and every other poster who comments on it. Does attendance matter?, well of course it does. But the truth of the matter is if SMU averaged a true 25k per game and a desirable P5 team comes calling, virtually every HC will bail and you can't blame them. Over the course of an athletes stay at a university, a P5 school earns some $100M than an AAC school like SMU does. We simply can't compete against the big boys.

You just contradicted yourself. You stated that Defense is Aggies issue, then stated Chad Morris is the perfect fit. How will Chad Morris fix the defense? Sumlin had a pretty great run getting recruits to come and had pretty good offenses as well and was considered a offensive guy. You think Morris is going to get better recruits that Sumlin?

I don't think most people here are judging him for his desire to bump his salary. I think it's for the doublespeak of making such a public profession against sexual assault and then turning around and entertaining an offer from the one school that demonstrated a clear willingness to enable sexual assault for the sake of their football program. No one made Chad do that.

Why wouldn't a Coach who had a particular concern about an issue (such as sexual violence) want to take a job to fix the problem? Pretty much the job of most coaches. Unless you are saying Baptist and their institutions are intrinsically evil. Provocative I'll admit but probably unfair

Funny, I have two friends on the Baylor Board, each one has the same story, Chad was never, ever even interviewed for the Baylor job last year. All he did is allow people to speculate and our astute AD gives him a bump. Pretty smart!
Whatever, the facts, Chad wanted out, still wants out for a variety of reasons, number one the lack of commitment to football by our administration and misrepresenting our commitment to build the IPF-- before he departs. What I'm worried about it the lack of success we will have finding a replacement given our reputation as a terrible place to be a Head Football Coach.
