I straight up said who it's a bad look for in the first sentence. It's a bad look for Traylor. There is no way around it. He made a commitment to be the interim for the bowl and quit when he didn't get the permanent job. That's incredibly selfish of him. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that this move actually shows that SMU was 100% right to not give him to HC position.

Players need to respect their new coach and play hard for him and their teammates. If they whine and “run to tell the AD”, then they can move on. Their coach quit on them, and SMU hired someone they thought was a better candidate than their position coach.
